I'm as interested in hosting as in surfing. I'm looking forward to getting to know the community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed a few couches in Iceland and it was amazing.

I grew-up in NYC & below is a small fraction of free summer events in NYC:

* Bryant park movies
* Celebrate Brooklyn - music in Prospect Park
* brooklynbridgepark.org (maybe it's .com) has free movies
* free movies (& other events) at Hudson River Park -- i think the website might be rivertoriver.org
* Central Park Summer Stage has music shows
* people always gather on the weekends & rollerskate & it's fun to watch -- it's by Sheepshead Meadow
* There's tango dancing Sun nights by the South Street Seaport
* There's also Swing & social dancing at Lincoln Center most nights of the week
* There's also free Shakespeare theater in Central Park called "Shakespeare in the park"
* There's also a spoof called "Shakespeare in the parking lot" -- a spoof, but still good theater.

Time Out New York (newyork.timeout.com) is at most newsstands in NYC and always has great listings, including many free events.
