About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Staying put for a change!

ABOUT ME

After frolicking about the globe on and off the last decade, I seem to have slowed a little, finding myself by a string of fortunate events working in Oslo.

I really enjoy meeting people, music, cooking, travel, hiking hills, dancing, learning. That is all about discovery. Days when I'm not working tend to favour sleeping in, long walks, reading a book in the sunshine when it's out. Weekend evenings I enjoy some drinks and try to find interesting music.

My favourite pass time is to gather around the kitchen table with food, friends, laughs and a few bottles of wine.

PHILOSOPHY

Live with a small footprint, view with an open mind, practice what you preach, treat others as you would expect to be treated. Life is what we make of it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try to go out of my way to make sure others are happy. Couchsurfing has this spirit.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The way things have worked out, I've on only once 'officially' surfed so far. It was great to get in touch with some locals just when the going was getting tough and accommodation was ridiculously overpriced.

Interests

I'm not super choosy with couches. The unusual, retro styles are my favorite but basic sofas are comfy or even a switch to recliners if necessary. At the moment comfort is preferable to speed or aerodynamics... Seriously though. I'm interested in traveling of course, non-pop music, philosophy, science, photography, nature, food, lots else..

Music, Movies, and Books

David Lynch, Stanley Kubrick

Radiohead, Primus, Nick Cave, Beck, Dark Dark Dark, Led Zeppelin, Ray Charles, Pink Floyd... jazz, blues, reggae and latin and anything creatively different that catches my ear.

The Master and Margherita. A Brave New World. Just reading the Prose Edda..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The aurora borealis, five nights in a row.
Primus in London.
Sitting 30m atop a hollow fig tree in a rainforest, hikers below none the wiser!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a good English tutor! Perhaps some electronics, anything to do with computers.. shared discussions on any topic are an opportunity to learn. Sometimes I fall into the 'councillor' role for friends, I try to ensure people are happy. Occasionally I give some cooking lessons but very happy to receive them too!
