About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Being someone :)

ABOUT ME

I am an active person, who likes to meet new people. I am creative and like challenges! I am very interested in anthropology. I like to have discussions or deep conversations about subjects that consider the world around me (and finding out what differences there are with other cultures) from time to time. Discussing art, politics, environment, education, etc. But what I like best is laughing and having fun. I enjoy being among people and observe, but my real passion is nature, I love the times where I am all alone in the most amazing places in the world, just enjoying the peacefulness!

PHILOSOPHY

When I traveled trough England, I saw this quote on a wall, and since then, this is the way I like to view my travels;

'It doesn't matter what your real destination is, the journey is just as important.'

Besides my travelphilosophy, I also live a certain lifestyle to make sure I enjoy life to the fullest; I am 'green', recycle and give. I enjoy sharing, and treat every person equally. Just another quote;

'Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none.'

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

The thing I love about couchsurfing is meeting new people, getting to know them and their culture and habits. When I host couchsurfers, I want to be more then a free couch, so if that's what you are looking for, I am not the one to contact. I am trying to collect as many dishes as possible, so I ask every couchsurfer to prepare me something from their homecountry/region, and in return for that, my surfers get my favorite dutch dish served (Hutspot!) When I have the opportunity to join surfers in town, I love to show them around and show them the best and most beautiful places around!
When I am surfing myself, this is also what I look for in my host. Getting to know the other person is more important then the free place to sleep. And besides that, I think locals can tell more about their town then a travel guide can!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been surfing in Norway, and my experience is that all hosts are different. With hosting surfers, I noticed all surfers are different too. I am an outgoing person, and yes, I like outgoing surfers as well, but I also enjoy the company of the quiet ones. I like hosting surfers that are willing to share past travel experiences, dreams and wishes with me.
In summer, I receive 6 to 10 requests a day, so place make your request personal! Show me why you want to meet ME. I have had request that started with: 'Dear Sophie...' Just to make sure you have read my profile, use the following words in your request: 'Ik hou van grootmoeders appeltaart op een koude winteravond'
