About Me
In my past life I was probably a cat, or an owl, as I tend to stay up the whole night and go to bed when the sun shines bright again. This comes mostly from going out with friends but partly also from studying excesses at the end of the term when deadlines get alarmingly close.. Though true to my past life as a cat, there are also days when I just want to cuddle up on my couch and just do nothing, read a book, look at silly old pictures, rearrange my furniture, call friends, stare out of the window or just doing nothing really. At times I remember something funny out of nowhere and then I have kind of laughing-phases where I just can't stop smiling. :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing is such a great idea, it really enriches traveling a lot! With it you can now get in touch with locals in places you've never even thought of before, get to know how they live their lives, share time together and soon enough you'll have friends all over the world who you can visit and who'll come visit you wherever you are at.
Interests
i definitely couldn't live without music, all kinds of. i guess i can't really be pigeonholed musically, it also depends a bit on the mood i'm in. so i don't wanna mess around here with a list of genres, though i might add that rock or electronic music are like always present. in summertime i usually spend my money on festivals (if i'm not travelling), in winter concerts serve as a good alternative to that as well as bars and clubs.
i do have a disposition to collect things, whatever it is. i used to collect beer cans, then i changed to collecting postcards, then i started collecting beer mats. then there are times when i just throw it all away and start collecting something else. to my defense, i also produce useful stuff with my collections. i made a wooden bedside table with a glass top beneath which i assembled a few of my beloved beer mats. (in case you haven't noticed yet: yes i really like beer). i like creating things on my own - paintings, gifts, bracelets, decoration, clothes, cooking..

Music, Movies, and Books
as mentioned before, i'm not gonna publish a list of music here. all i can say is i had to buy an i pod classic 160gb because i ran out of space on my old player. i have currently 12648 titles on it which according to i tunes are approximately 33 days of constant music. the artists index starts with ac/dc and ends with zonderling.
with books and movies its kind of the same problem of not wanting to list them. i love fantastic books and movies such as the lord of the rings, harry potter, the neverending story and many more. but also non-fiction like history books, biographies, real life stories. one of my latest treasures was stanley booth's book about his tour with the rolling stones in the sixties. or patti smiths 'just kids' is brilliant. or geert maks 'in europe'.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
There's so many amazing things to experience, it's hard to think of only one. Paying attention to detail surely makes the world more amazing for oneself. Walking down to the beach and watching the sunrise, with a cool breeze on your face. Smiling at a stranger. Listening to your grandparents lifestories.
Teach, Learn, Share
when i'm travelling i'm already very happy to get an insight into where my host lives, what he or she likes doing and what plans or dreams they have about their future. i love to learn new languages so i'd be glad to pick up a few words on my way :). i'm also very fond of cooking and getting to know foreign dishes.
What I Can Share with Hosts
as i am a vegetarian i'd happily cook you a unique vegetarian dish à la naemi. i could also teach you some of the languages i speak if you're interested. or give travel recommendations for europe, as it's the place i know best.
