CURRENT MISSION

My current mission is to be fully myself whatever that may bring. I therefore treat my daily interactions and experiences as an opportunity to learn more deeply who I "really" am through being authentic and present with an open-mind &heart.

I have spent many years in the process of self-discovery through plant medicines, shamanism, meditation practices - doaist, Buddhist etc and the funniest thing that I discovered was that the conditioning (beliefs, ideas, mental concepts) we all pick up along the way has nothing to do with who we truly are. What a mystery!!

ABOUT ME

Name's Niall and I am 35. I've completed a degree in music, a MA in Ethnomusicology & an MA in Music Therapy. I've played in a variety of bands over the past twenty years from the heaviest metal to spiritual, folk, rock, funk &reggae. I've traveled all over the world Australia, South America, Europe, Asia and studied shamanism, music & healing attending many music & arts festivals along the way. I'm a relaxed open-minded guy with empathy and a good sense of humor.

I'm currently touting my new album "Awareness" a collection of songs that reflect my experiences over the last seven years. I was working as a professional music therapist in Ireland for the past year in areas such as mental health, autism, brain injury & dementia and I have a keen interest in self-inquiry meditation, spiritual teachers such as mooji & adyashanti - If you would like to check out my music visit www.niallmcguigan.com

Music, Movies, and Books

Love films in general but best ive seen recently Avatar, City of God, The Devil and inception. Love reading, last read 'The cosmic Serpant' by Jeremy Narmby (DNA and the origins of knowledge) very interesting connections between nature, shamanism and modern day science. Were do I start with music, love everthing from metal, grunge, rock to electronic, dubstep, jazz, blues and world music LOVE REGGAE. Favourite artists would have to be Led Zeppelin, White Zombie, Sepultura, Bob Marley listening to alot of Miles Davis at the minute

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I worked as a music therapist in a school for Autistic children in Ireland for three months. This was an incredible experience into the diversity of music in its applications to working with a wide variety of needs when working with this population.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach basic music theory. I can teach khoomi (Mongolian throat singing)I can also teach tenor saxaphone and guitar. I would love to learn Spanish and have started learning the basics.
