About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To make a lifelong friend from every part of the world! To go to places nobody has been before & leave behind a piece of yourself there!

ABOUT ME

My name is Niall & I am 27 years old. I was born in Dublin, Ireland and have lived there most of my life. I have always enjoyed travelling and was lucky enough to travel around much of Europe when growing up. This love for travelling has never left me. One of my favourite things to do is simply meeting new people and making new friends.

I enjoy reading books, mostly fantasy & sci-fi but have a love for history texts too. I like reading comic books & graphic novels! I am an avid music lover with a very eclectic taste. One day, its hard house or Dubstep & the next its classical or classic rock. My love for music and meeting people makes going to festivals my high points of the year when I can make it.

I have always been a big gamer & have played everything extensively from the original Atari to the latest Sony & Microsoft consoles. I generally enjoy strategy games when playing on my PC but otherwise, straight up shoot-em-ups online is my pick!

I love movies and going to the cinema. I also enjoy astronomy & science although my knowledge of both is fairly limited.

I love sports and exercising. I try to go running when I can but if I am staying in a city for a while I will play football (or soccer if any Americans/Australians are reading this). I am also a big Arsenal fan! I did quite a bit of rowing growing up but stopped when I went to college. I still enjoy watching races.

I love skiing & would love to work on a ski resort in Queenstown NZ (next mission)!

I play squash very regularly and have started competing this year. Will always be glad of a game at home or travelling,

PHILOSOPHY

Be nice to everyone. You might meet a few assholes along the way but if you project niceness, you are likely to receive it back. Live your life in the moment & don't try to plan things too much. If something makes you happy, keep doing it!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I was introduced to couchsufing in 2013 by some friends I was travelling with. I have surfed and hosted. I spent a lot of time going to CS weekly meetings and day trips when I 1st arrived in Perth.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have only couchsurfed three times, all in Australia. Each time I have met awesome people and made some great friends. I have since recommended it to many people and am looking forward to more surfing experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Such a long list. 2001, Dumb & Dumber, Apocalypse now, The Shining & Watchmen would be some of my favourite movies from different genres. I enjoy a good action pic with bad story lines as much as I enjoy a deep psychological thriller.

Music: All kinds, literally! Enjoy clubbing to deep house, electro, hip-hop, dubstep and rock oldier. I have a massive collection on my hard drive.

Books: Anything by George Orwell, David Brinn, Sergei Lukyanenko, George R.R Martin & Neil Strauss. I love reading fantasy, sci-fi, graphic novels, historical (fact & fiction) and mock self-help.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Inca trail would be be up there.
Tubing in Laos (when it was still allowed)
Skiing in the French Alps.
Losing a large amount of money in Las Vegas.
Camping all around Australia.

My goal is to keep adding to this list until the day I die.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a business marketing degree and a lot of experience in sales. I am very business minded despite not really wanting to be.

IT/Technology

Modern World Events/Politics

I know quite a lot about mobile phones and the technology behind them. I have repaired some phones before with spare parts.

Extensively traveled some parts of the world so would have good local knowledge of these places.
