Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'll be backpacking for Europe for a month with my 2 best friends. We'll be staying at hostels for part of it, but I'm most excited to experience the couch surfing aspect of it--staying with locals and trading stories and making connections that transcend borders.

Interests

Many and varied.
•Big questions--why are we here? How did the universe start and why are we here?
•Little questions--why is cheese so good and why is whisky so delicious?
•Movies--I'm partial to late 70s/early 80s horror and sci-fi. Aliens and supernatural murderers are much more fun to watch cheesy corn-syrup blood and rockin' synth soundtracks.
•Food--Anything and everything. Meat, cheese, vegetable, and everything in between. Especially partial to pasta, butter, and sausage.
•Drink--I'm on a never-ending quest to find the best tasting whisky (or whiskey) on earth. Something oakey with a hint of vanilla and black pepper...I think Europe's where I'm gonna find it.
•People--All of them. I want to meet, well, everyone--people with wildly different social, ethnic, financial, and cultural backgrounds than mine. I'm firmly convinced that even though we're all different we're all very much the same...and I want to be their friend.
•Music--I'm partial to anything with banjo, but all style are fantastic. Deep bass lines sound good after night time.
•Nature--ALL of it. I'm happiest when I've set up a tent and I'm falling asleep under the stars next to a slowly-fading campfire.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music--
•Radiohead: Anything Thom and crew has ever done is A-OK with me
•Avett Brothers: The best parts of American folk and rock and roll
•Missy Elliott: She's a dancebeat wunderkind
•Lauryn Hill: Miseducation is a very, /very/ important album
•Brand New: Capturing all of the feelings from high school and beyond
•Many, many more...show me your favorites!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Everyday is full of small victories, but as of yet...taking this month-long trip is the scariest, most amazing thing I've done. I can't wait to flesh this section out when I get back.
One time I threw up on Splash Mountain at Disneyland right when they took my picture. My mom didn't buy the picture (understandably). There was another time I was walking on the Oregon coast at midnight and it was pitch black and the moon's reflection on the water made it seem as if I was walking on the paper-thin layer of an alternate universe.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've been a bartender for quite some time. I can show you how to make some of my favorite cocktails; you can show me the same? I can do a really (bad) valley girl accent. Share with me everything! I have a really good story about me trying to fight the Pacific Ocean in California, but I'd have to tell you in person.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a good cook. I also have some pretty good terrible jokes and funny stories about terrible drunk people at my bar. I'm also really good at buying people pints at the pub.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, England, France, Germany, Ireland

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
