ABOUT ME

Me & my wife decided in 2010 that there is more to life than the good jobs we had working in the UK public sector, always having larger salaries and larger homes on the horizon. We left our jobs and aim to backpack and live around the world for as long as possible. We aim to learn new things, meet different people and live life more slowly but more fully.

PHILOSOPHY

Respect for others and helping them out when possible. Looking for different experiences to keep learning how the world works and to challenge myself. There's much more to life than more and more money.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For now, we are interested in surfing and also in meeting interesting people. We can't host yet as our home is let out for the long term, but hopefully we'll be able to return the favour in future.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far just the one, but we hope to be surfing a few more times in the very near future.

Interests

Making jokes whenever I can. Good food and drink. Absorbing buzzy cities as well as peaceful countryside scenery and wildlife. Pondering how to solve the world's problems. Seeing as much of the world as possible.

Music, Movies, and Books

On music, various rock & pop, but never really been able to get into classical. Would like to explore more types. As for movies, I like a good comedy, although there's not many around. Have never read as much as I'd like, but popular science books have always been fun.

We have increasing experience with the practicalities of travelling, especially in South America, so we can share that - as well as any insights we've got from 20 years of working and how to stop doing it (there must be a few).
