ABOUT ME

I hate to describe myself. Read my profile and my references and see how others see me.

This winter I worked 4 months in 2 different skiing resorts. First in Sauze d'Oulx in Italy and then in Grandvalira, Andorra. Both places I made a lot of new friends. And I finally fulfilled a lifelong dream of skiing almost every day for an entire ski-season. Fantastic!!!

I am very open-minded and I meet people with a genuine belief that the person in front of me is a good person. I dislike ignorance and generalizing. I know for a fact, that not all people wearing glasses work in libraries... and not all people with red hair are hot tempered. So stop thinking you know how people are because of their ethnic, religious or geographical background. Thank you :-)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I'm just trying to get started. But I hope to meet a lot of interesting people. I love to travel and I love to learn about other cultures and other ways of seeing things.
I will start by opening up my home to other people, to get a feel of how couchsurfers are. Maybe I will also learn what the perfect surfer is, so I will be someone that people will also enjoy hosting.
Now that I have some more experience with CS, I will say that from now on I will focus on hosting people that are willing to share time and experiences with me. I don't like being just a place to stay. I want to have a good time with you and I want every CS experience to be something I will remember. Some of the people that have stayed here, I've already forgotten again. And that is not what CS is to me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far I have hosted:
1 from Argentina
1 from Taiwan
2 from Australia
2 from Austria
2 from Spain
4 from France
4 from Canada
6 from Poland
7 from USA and
7 from Germany.
36 people in 18 different groups. All 18 experiences have been very different, but positive. 4 people have cancelled in the last minute, which is a always a bit sad, because in general I have to decline so many for lack of space. But at least they told me. Would be really disappointed if someone just didn't show up.
I am looking forward to hosting a lot more people, and hope some day to go surfing myself :-)

Intereses

So many... I have been singing all my life. I have been playing basketball at a very advanced level, and still try to get out and play when it is possible. It seems to me that music and sports are some of the best ways to break down cultural barriers.
My biggest passion is skiing. It is the closest feeling I have come to actually flying, and sometimes when you go down a hill you will get a sensation of total freedom. It is really hard to explain sensations...

Música, películas y libros

Movies: Amadeus, The Matrix trilogy, Coen Brothers, Tarantino, Inception, Les Choristes, Lars and the real girl, Burlesque, Woody Allen,... so many more... I collect movies and have about 500...
I like all kinds of music. It all depends on the situation and the mood. Right now I listen a lot to Lukas Graham, Tim Christensen, Thelonious Monk, Mads Langer... well mostly danish music, because I don't live there.
The last books I've read have been swedish crime stories by Arne Dahl. But I read a lot, and I like all kinds of books too. But you never go wrong with a "who done it"-book.

Off-piste skiing in Andorra, starting an avalanche, but making it down.
Going up in a hot-air balloon in Lake Tahoe, while the sun was coming up over the mountains.
Driving from Salt Lake City to Seattle and seeing the change of scenery from a salty dessert to the most amazing green forrests.
River-rafting in Costa Rica.
Singing the tenor-solo in the Cathedral in Havana, with Coralina, which is the best Cuban choir in the world. And having the composer thank me for my solo effort afterwards.
Skiing in the moonlight at night in Italy.
The birth of my children.
So many more things... :-)

I can teach people to play basketball... not very useful in this forum I guess.
I would like to learn to play the guitar... but I don't have one, and I'm not sure I have the patience.
If I'm not instantly good at something, then I get very frustrated, because very often I am...
