About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Its not about passport stamps

ABOUT ME

Im a pretty likeable guy... Ive returned to Manchester after my first long term travelling trip abroad to South America. Im outgoing, confident, I love being self sufficient and try to be modest but a little silly too. Ive got a pretty positive attitude because negativity begat negativity.
Im trying to carve out a career in youth work in my local community.
Other than that I help out at my local Sailing group most weekends, as well as playing Ultimate Frisbee with a lovely team and I try to get on my bike as much as possible.

PHILOSOPHY

Our time is short and life is transient...
Oh and don't take yourself too seriously (as Huey says: fat birds don't fly!)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to meet and greet members from all over the world, and give them an insight into the UK that isnt London-centric, and prove that the North is much more fun.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Ive crashed in Brazil, Argentina and Chile so far. Met the most hospitatable people imaginable, saw whales in Panisular Valdez, got the reciepe for a great Gin and Pomello juice in Buenos Aires, scaled a big assed hill in Santiago. Took a Capeoira lesson in Vina del Mar, was rescued from former profesional surfers in Rio. Met the brave, the studious, the drunk and the rest. Met some awesome travel buddies whilst surfing the same couch. Cant wait for more adventures!

Interests

Music (playing guitar, drums + bass), Photography, Mountain Sports (esp Mountain Biking), cooking, health and fitness, Ultimate frisbee and arse shakeing (drinking + dancing on nights out)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Back in the days (2004) I climbed Mount Kenya with 5 top mates from back home and about 12 people I'd met on a charity trip. It was amazing as i was only 17 yrs old and it was about 17000 ft, unfortunatly I got altitude sickness and my mates took the micheal out of my bad mood, but it was still awesome. I saw both hemispheres of stars, all kinds of wildlife and some kick ass views.
Recently (May 2009) I cracked 6000m in Bolivia with three friends. That was without doubt the hardest physical task Ive ever done. Knee deep snow, blizzards and blooming big cravasses couldnt stop my resolve to get up that damn hill, and it was a relief when the altitude sickness wore off. Awesome veiw of the sunrise and the substantial surrounding mountains. The Andes are magic. Just go.
