About Me
-----------------------
ATTENTION: I seem to be receiving a massive influx of friend requests from people I do not know. Please understand that I do not treat this like Facebook; I only add people that I have met in real life. Thanks!
——————————
Despite the recent changes in the community and service, I try to embody the old Couchsurfing spirit. I am fascinated by the different upbringings and experiences that we all have, and some of the primary reasons I travel is to get a better understanding of culture, history, people and of course try as much food as I can.
I am incredibly lucky to have been introduced to this community, and I am so grateful for the connections I've been able to form. Couchsurfers are a very unique group of individuals, since it takes a particular mindset to open your house to a stranger that you've never met, relying on references left by other people that you don't know, but that willingness to be vulnerable and open is what makes this community so amazing. Couchsurfing is not a replacement for Tinder, but rather an opportunity to share cultures and experiences.
I try to be as active on here as I can be. I am almost always on the Hangouts portion of the app, and I have hosted a couple of events.
My Couchsurfing origins:
With little/no planning, I did my first solo trip in Europe while I was still in University. Other than knowing where I was staying for the first three days, everything was spontaneous and I had some of the most amazing experiences of my life. During my trip, I learned about CS and took part in a huge CS event in Prague for New Years, partied with Russians, hosted my own CS event in Amsterdam, and even jokingly proposed to someone who said yes. My adventures were so transformative that within 48 hours of coming back I decided that I wanted to experience more, so I put in my leave of absence, and was lucky enough to take part in a culture exchange as an Au-pair.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet new people, form friendships, and create memories.
When I originally heard about this app, I dismissed it for thinking it was just an app to sleep on someone's couch. I was so incredibly wrong. I have met some of the most interesting people of my life, and have had amazing experiences with them all. I would like to continue to meet people and offer whatever I can. With the help of this site, I now have a global network of friends from all walks of life.
Interests
I find myself spending too much money on technology, outdoor gear and travel. I went to school for astrophysics, and despite working in IT, I still have a passion for science.
I love cooking things but can struggle to follow recipes. I always like trying new food, and often try to recreate something with my own spin on it.
I am an avid DIYer, and ended up doing all the woodworking for my car-camper myself. I love solving problems and learning new ways to do things.
I am always interested in the life experiences of others and and area's culture. I enjoy learning about history, people and trying different cuisines.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I am pretty open to all genres of music. I often find myself listening to chill electronic music. Some of my favorite artists include: Joachim Pastor, Worakls, Be Svedsen
Books: I wish I had enough free time to read, but I have been enjoying audiobooks. I enjoy series like The Witcher, Enders Game, and Mistborn. I love sci-fi and am always open to suggestions.
Movies: I love comedies, action, adventure and sci-fi. I often find myself watching more shows rather than movies. My favorite show is Doctor Who.

Teach, Learn, Share
I like to view Couchsurfing not as a hostel, but as a cultural exchange. I have met so many interesting people via CS that I have been telling everyone I know to use it. As for what I can share, I am a decent cook who likes to experiment with whatever I have available with me. I am trying to learn as many languages as I can, and can try to teach you whatever I know. I try to make the most out of Couchsurfing and this leads me to have a bunch of adventures and I would love to make the next one with whoever happens to read this.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am neat and respectful. I try to limit my noise and clean up after myself. I am genuinely interested in other people's lives and their experiences. We live in such a small world and everyone has such fascinating backgrounds.
I usually buy the first round of drinks.
