I am a film major at Mass College of Art Looking to explore the world through couch surfing!!

ABOUT ME

I am part of the explorative youth living in America but I am originally from South Africa. I moved here when I was 9 and now after 13 years live in Boston and am enjoying the city to the fullest while studying for my BFA at Massart. I want to eventually go on to film, photograph, and write for non profit organizations such as OxFam or magazines such as Vice/ National Geographic. The moving image is my passion. Philosophy, people, and understanding the way others live there lives are too! and also coffee... of course

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in the idea that in this age of modernity, one in which we experience a whirlwind of change and contradiction everyday, where truth and value becomes a blurred system of opposing beliefs, where we are constantly searching for meaning in our own lives, as human beings have been for millenniums; it is important for one to travel and gain an understanding of the world from their own point of view. I believe the only true education is garnered through travel, and life is meant to be lived, not waited out.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

for the next month and a half I will be surfing around the US of A to make a documentary film, on what I'm not quite sure yet. I have a railroads and my camera, and I have always been fascinated by how incredibly culture changes from state to state and I'd love to find a better understanding of that. I definitely would love to take a portrait of you and your couch if you feel comfortable! Also, over the course of the year as I spend my final year at massart I will definitely be hosting in that wonderful city!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Being a beginner at this, I could use all the help I can get! I have been traveling for fun all my life, but never quite like this, and I'm incredibly excited about it all.

I completely dig movies, music, art, art philosophy, social philosophy, learning new ways of doing things, beer, coffee, singing, exercise, swimming, travel, sleep, writing, and being the keeper of my own destiny.

I want to learn the cultures of America. I want to learn what drives the people around me to travel and I want to share my life experience with them. I want to share my photography and film with this community, and hopefully capture a portrait of the immense movement that it has become.
