Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have just started to host and look to do some travel in Europe myself soon.

I have a dream of seeing the whole of europe, seeing how it's changed in the last century and how its culture has changed the whole world- from its history of colonisation but also from the two world wars. I'd like to learn more the history of the wars, what we can learn from it and how to move on and towards a brighter future. I'd like to do some interrailing on my own and couchsurf with new hosts and with people I have hosted while I learn about european history.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My sister introduced me to couch surfing and I hosted someone she had hosted in her Uni flat- it was so much fun that I hope to do so regularly.

I have also started to go to the local Couchsurfing meetings to meet interesting people and talk about travelling.

Interests

I have a great interest in British history and enjoy visiting Castles and other historic sights nearby. I work with cars and recently got a mini one which I think is a great British icon- as well as having almost affordable insurance!

I have been lucky to travel quite widely with my family both in Europe and South Africa- hence the cheetahs in one of my photos. I have started to travel on my own and recently went to the Oktoberfest. I'm keen to go inter-railing next year.

As well as cars, I have a few television series I like, such as Doctor Who, Torchwood, Game of Thrones, The Mentalist, The Blacklist, Rome (which I found really interesting because it says so much about ancient history!), The Originals, Covert Affairs. I used to be into the Vampire Diaries, but I got bored eventually.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm reading the first game of thrones book at the moment, but it is taking me a while. I was reading Pillars of the earth but I've given it a rest for the time being.

Movies: Nothing rates higher in my book than The Shawshank Redemption. It's got great depth, and lots of things you'd need in a film to make it inspiring, politically thrilling, lots of angles so you can think about it in lots of different ways, great way to see a film.
