About Me

I'm 31 years old, and live in Durango, Colorado. I have a career in anatomic pathology, and dissect organs and tissue to diagnose and stage cancer. In my free time, I love all things mountain, and love the challenge learning anything new, seriously.. try me. :) I am a mountain biker, hiker, explorer, paddle boarder, skier and love a good microbrew.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Connecting with unique people is the spice of my life and stagnation is a huge fear of mine. I am hoping to surf and also open my home to surfers. Meeting, connecting, and sharing experience and knowlege is an adventure all on its own.

Music, Movies, and Books

I vary my styles based on my moods. I am learning to play the guitar, so I've been into talented string artists, and have a feeling that one day I'll be a rock star; but first, I'll need to learn some chords out of the key of G. ;)

Books; I LOVE to read. Lately my books have been mostly non-fiction and based on the histories and culture of the countries I have or will be volunteering in. But, I love any chance I get to bury myself into a good book, and love good recommendations. What's your favorite book? I'd love to put in on my list, unless its a vampire novel; you can keep those.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I returned from Cap Haitien, Haiti in May of 2016 where I opened a pathology lab and trained medical professionals how to run basic histology and scan their finished slides to volunteer pathologists in the US. I was faced with many challenges, and left feeling moved by the work and connections I made.

Teach, Learn, Share

Just last month, a big dream of mine was kicked into overdrive. I have started a non-profit that focuses on teaching pathology to medical students in Mbarara, Uganda. I am really excited to give back in the form of education.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Laughs, and knowledge of mountain biking, the outdoors, and medicine.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, Germany, Haiti, Kenya, Mexico, Netherlands, Uganda
