About Me
February 2017 - Currently on the road again, with stops in Paris, Malta, Istanbul, Jerusalem/Tel Aviv and Warsaw ...
ABOUT ME
Well, I'm a fairly well-traveled nomad. These days I make my home in Victoria, BC, where I'm back in school upgrading some science courses. I work as a paramedic and stagehand, and occasionally dabble in other things as well. I live with my cat, Michelangelo, and while I'm quite busy, I'm generally happy to try to find time to buy visitors a coffee and hang out a bit :)
PHILOSOPHY
Oh my. Ummm... Have fun and help people?
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Until now I've primarily used Couchsurfing to find places to crash while I've been oversees. Now that I'm back, and at least somewhat settled, in Victoria, I'm hoping to return the favour a bit...
I can't really host (I've got a roommate) but I'm happy to socialize and meet new folks :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Great experiences staying with couch-surfers in Japan and Indonesia.

Music, Movies, and Books
Lord of the Rings, And the Band Played On, Harry Potter, Vengeance, Crappy murder mysteries, Lots of 1940's movies lately...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent 1 month in early 2007 doing documentary work in and around the Chernobyl region of Ukraine, including spending three days inside the inner 3km exclusion zone. I'm planning on returning at least one or two more times and hope to eventually publish a photography book. I've also spent time in the Chittagong ship-breaking yards in Bangladesh, seen Mt. Everest from the Tibet side, stood on the deck of a WWII US Submarine, 75 meters underwater, hung out on snorkel with a Dwarf Minke whale, and played with penguins in Antarctica... and that's all just off the top of my head... ;)
Teach, Learn, Share
Three of the most important elements of any successful picture are emotion, light, and timing. Seeing all three of those things, AND getting them right, is what separates good photographers and mediocre ones.
