About Me

It's always been difficult for me to describe myself.... Let's see, I'm a music junkie. I believe it is the best natural "drug" on the planet. A good tune has the ability to alter your soul. Even though it's cliche, I'm really digging Pretty Lights right now. Love the whole analog, vintage vibe he brings to the electronica world. Along with that I like Wax Tailor, Odesza, Purity Ring, and Tycho. That's my big genre right now. The mellow electronic stuff. Trip-Hop I think is what they call it. Always loved Indie music, some hip-hop (36 Chambers by Wu-Tang Clan is a fuckin work of art), and of course.... classic rock. My favorite album of all time is Eat A Peach by the Allman Brothers. I'm a big reader too. It's hard to pick a favorite author so I'll just throw some out there. First and foremost, obviously, is Jack Kerouac. Then there's Chuck Palahniuk, Kurt Vonnegut, and Charles Bukowski. I've recently adopted far-eastern philosophy. The Tao Te Ching changed my life. Karma (not necessarily a Taoist concept) is a reality. Do bad, receive bad. Do good, receive good. It's as simple as that. I could go into how the nature of reality is dependent on perception. That it's all relative. But I won't. At one point in my life during some fairly deep meditation I developed a simple "plan" to improve the world. Just talking of course, but here's the idea. I feel if everyone strived to embody the following three things everything would improve. Not looking for perfection here, just a conscious effort. A) The golden rule. Treat others as you'd like to be treated. Practice empathy, put yourself in anothers shoes, feel what he/she feels, and all that jazz. This is an easy one. Everyone can agree on this. B.) Do not directly harm others. It's impossible to not effect others by doing whatever it is you choose to do either for the worse or better, but don't ridicule, physically harm, or otherwise abuse your fellow man. I think that one's pretty easy too. Now for the tough one. C.) No matter how different someone is from you, as long as they're abiding by the first two, as in they are treating you like family and not harming you, then you will not impose your will on them no matter how differently they run their lives. I don't care if you run naked in the streets or are a 70 year old gay grandmother on a long board smoking a blunt. Whatever! Do you. Live and let live. Ya digg? Sorry. Kinda got on my soap box there for a minute. I hope all the above gives you a bit of an idea as to who I am as a fellow human being residing on this great home we share called planet Earth...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

*update
Am currently hosting in the St. Pete area. Live in a really nice place a few miles from downtown. Contact me if you need a place to crash XD

Recently hit the road and again and I'm in it for the long haul this time around. Life on the road is nothing new to me, but am only recently returning. Spent most of my early to mid twenties hitchhiking the west coast. Even went into Canada. I'm looking forward towards all the uniquely fresh experiences to come. New to the couchsurfing community. I heard lots of good things about this website and figured I'd give er' a spin. Cause that's why we do it, ya know? For the fellowship. At our most basic level that's what we crave. Bonding. As to why I'm not a verified member.... life as a beatnik is a life of living on the cheap. Gotta try not spending unless it' necessary (or important). I may go through the process sometime in the near future if I come into a decent amount of money, but as of now I can't justify the expenditure. I may be wrong in this though. I'm hoping this all can be done with money involved. Guess it's a trust thing. Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, my faith in humanity hasn't been stripped from me... yet Anywho, Hope this did the trick. I'm really looking forward to meeting any prospective(is this the right word?) hosts.

Interests

At the risk of being cliche, I am obsessed with the beatnik culture. (Who woulda thought?) Also, music (of course...) I'm interested in anything new and exciting. All things eccentric.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Other than my beaming personality, um.... I like to give back in whatever form this may take. Often times it's doing the dishes. Other times I've been known to help move furniture, volunteer, or anything really.
