About Me
Hi All!
I am currently traveling around New Zealand on a one-year working visa. I plan to spend most of my time volunteering on farms, as I make my way around the islands. After graduating from university with a business administration degree and working full-time for fifteen months, I decided I needed to invest in myself by traveling and learning about different lifestyles.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I think Couchsurfing is a great way to meet new people who are obviously open-minded and adventurous. As I am currently traveling by public transport, I often need to spend a night or two between cities due to the bus schedules. I do not like staying in hostels, as every one there is also a traveler, and I am here to learn about the lives of those who reside in New Zealand.
Interests
I spend most of my free time reading, playing guitar, writing, exercising, or just hanging out with interesting people. I am a big fan of film, although I have not had much time for this hobby with the traveling.
I enjoy going on hikes, swimming, playing sports, and really anything outdoors and fun.

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy all music and film that is original and has something to say. I do not listen to a lot of mainstream radio music for this reason. I tend to listen to the rock genre, but really can appreciate any piece of good music. As for film, I am open-minded but mostly watch thrillers and comedies.
Currently, my favorite books are philosophy or religious texts. I find it fascinating to learn about others' viewpoints, as I believe you can take pieces of the truth from anyone or anything.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have skydived before back in the United States. This is also my first international travel, and I flew half-way across the globe by myself. Recently, I completely the Tongariro Crossing which was a real spectacle and a true triumph.
Teach, Learn, Share
I believe I can provide insight into the American way of life - both the positives and negatives of it. I enjoy playing guitar with others or sharing in their interests or hobbies. I am really interested in learning about carpentry/building, farming, gardening and permaculture while I am in New Zealand. I also enjoy learning about new music, film, and books.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I think I am someone who is laid-back and easy to get along with. I am always up for whatever the host would like to do that night. I do not mind assimilating to new lifestyles, and I can share my unique experience of turning away a full-time job with a good salary in order to travel and learn.
