About Me

Hello, I'm Nicholas Marsh, from a small city in northwest Indiana. I am currently preparing to join the US Marine Corps. I have a deep fascination with culture, history, and other such social studies. Music, food, good drinks, and good company are what I look for in life. I love learning about anything and everything, and usually have an opinion on anything or everything. Whether or not those opinions make any sense at all is up to you. But, I don't generally think I would ever be rude.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love culture and people. I wish to see the world, and meet people while doing. Hostels are a great and safe place to that, but sometimes there's just an air of adventure, or need of a place to stay. I don't have my own place, but when I get one, it will surely be open to this community.

Interests

Music, food, drinks, non addictive drugs, knowledge, and people.
I love music, and have since I was younger. It was my escape during middle school and high school, and continues to be a source of comfort and inspiration to me.
I work with food and have since I was 13. My family is immersed in the restaurant business and I wasn't spared in the least. I absolutely love trying new foods and culinary artworks. But, don't let that think I don't like a good nasty burger every so often. All food is good food to me.
Drinking and other minor mind altering substances aren't a hobby, but something I have absolutely no qualms with. I find it necessary to mention this on my profile simply because I wish to share in my interest in the human mind. Substances can take you place and make you feel and think in ways you never even thought possible. I love going on psycological trips, feeling like the the Christopher Columbus of my own inner mind (minus the genocide, racism, pedophilia, and geographical confusion of course). Substances have changed my life so much, and in such a positive way, that I encourage anybody comfortable with the notion to try as well.
Knowledge is one of my true fetishes. This thirst encompasses all fields of life, be it the history of England, or how space time travel could be possible. Though, my love generally floats around the subjects of history and human culture. Human culture/history is the most intriguing to me. I, like most, love a good story, and what better mystery to try and piece together than the most interesting and involving story in the world; our own.
Finally, people are a fascination of mine as well. Each person's opinion, story, and personality is interesting to me. Good people are my favorite experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

I can listen to almost any kind of music. So don't think oddly of me if I say I could go from A Day To Remember, to Eminem, to Frank Sinatra, to Joe Nichols, to Pachelbel's Canon in D Major, to Taylor Swift.
My favorite movies change rather often. As of right now, Saving Private Ryan is up on the top. I can never tear my eyes away from Tom Hanks. I also have a sweet spot for The Day After Tomorrow. It's one of me and my brother's favorite, so I will always watch it.
Books... books have a special place in my heart. Besides playing guitar, reading has gotten me through the hardest parts of my life. Among my favorites are the Harry Potter series, the Chronicles of Narnia, and Jurassic Park.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Honestly, the only truly amazing thing I can think of doing is finding my girlfriend. However sappy that sounds, just the simple chance of fate that brought me to her has changed my entire life and outlook on life. I really can't imagine what kind of man I would be without her. She is my best friend, my lover, and my other half.
Without getting too gushy, it just baffles me how we found such a complete match to one another.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I suppose I can't think of anything to to teach or share on the spot, but if you get the chance to talk with me, I'm sure I can think of something to share.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My only ensured sharing is that I will work if you wish me to, clean if you would like it of me, and converse if you're comfortable with it. Depending on the materials at hand, cooking is something I can aid in, and games are a passion of mine.
