ABOUT ME

I'm a 5th year college student at Utah State University. I love learning, whether it's in school or just from life experiences. I play a little music and write a couple songs every now and then, occasionally performing at local venues and coffee shops. I'm really into football, trees, sunsets and mountains. Luckily the area I live in has some of the prettiest mountains surrounding it, which are full of beautiful trees and help create incredible sunsets.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've only used CouchSurfing as a surfer and haven't ever hosted but am settling into a new place with a new room mate and will hopefully be getting into the whole hosting side of CouchSurfing soon!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'd say I'm still relatively new to couchsurfing. I traveled around Europe this summer, couchsurfing in Liverpool, Cardiff and various places in Ireland. It was a wonderful experience and one I'd definitely love to build upon.

I'm studying Classical History at Utah State University and I love it. I'm also really into football (soccer).I never got into football until I discovered Liverpool FC and I get all teary eyed whenever I hear You'll Never Walk Alone. If I'm not studying Latin or watching football I'm probably playing FIFA or music with my friends. I'm part of a musical group called the Traveling Band of Wild, Untamed, Outrageous, Mystical, Magical Gypsies. A couple of us (including myself) are singer-songwriters after a fashion and we play original songs as well as covers of some of our favorite songs. I enjoy hiking, camping and just hanging out outside. Lately I've gotten into bird watching, although I honestly know nothing about different kinds of birds.

The Wheel of Time books are my favorite. I'm a huge nerd when it comes to books. I mostly stick to sci-fi or fantasy books but occasionally switch over to comic books or biographies. I can enjoy most kinds of music, but anything with a lot of passion and honesty behind it is typically my favorite. I recently purchased tickets to see The Waterboys and I couldn't be happier. I also love Tom Waits.

I went for a walk one afternoon in Lucerne and after walking through a small stand of trees I came out above Lake Lucerne. I was amazed standing there looking down at the Lake and all the groups of houses surrounding it, and mountains popping up out of the lake where there were no houses. It was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

My band also makes up a group called Uncommon Collective. We help to organize community benefiting events such as concerts, jam sessions, and most recently poker tournaments. We also go around to after school clubs in our community and work with the students on unique musical projects. We've filmed music videos, taught guitar to elementary school students and helped out wherever we were needed. Our first benefit events would raise a couple hundred dollars which for us was quite a bit because we weren't even sure we'd be able to raise anything. Our most recent event, however, was a charity poker tournament/blackjack/musical extravaganza. We ended up raising almost 3,000 dollars for the Ford Chancellor Campaign for Health Fund, an organization set up to help cancer patients be able to afford treatments that can make the process of chemotherapy much easier and less horrific. Putting this event on in a very conservative community, and seeing the support we received was really special to me. It's nice to see people getting together and doing things that help make a difference in people's lives.
