Overview
About Me
I love the mountains and enjoy helping guests make the most of their time here--as well as getting out and exploring with them! I have plenty of maps, guidebooks, gear, tools, and knowledge of the area, so let me know if you need any specific assistance on your journey. I also have a garage and decent set of tools if you need to work on some repairs while you are here.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After returning from a couple years in South America, I wanted to pay forward some of the hospitality that I received. It turns out that I really enjoy hosting. I love the adventurer's spirit that visitors bring, as well as the diversity. I've even made a few close friends through CS.
As a traveler, I'd always rather learn about a place from a local than a guidebook. Experiences are so much richer when personal connections are involved! I'll cook for you and am happy to help with projects or anything else you might need a hand with.
Interests
Exploring. Travelling. Learning. Teaching. Spending as much time as possible outdoors. Camping. Rafting, sailing, canoeing, kayaking. everything that floats. Mountain biking, dirt biking and adventure riding. Caving. Fishing. Skiing and snowboarding. Soaking in natural hotsprings. Tinkering in the garage and working on home improvement projects. Working on cars, motorcycles, and other mechanical projects. Live music. Gardening, hunting and cooking. Brewing beer. Seeing live music/performances. Reading on a sunny couch with the dogs. Playing games with friends. Staying up late talking about how to solve the world's problems.

Music, Movies, and Books
Perhaps Charlie Wilson's War (the book, not the movie), Fear and Loathing in LV (both), and The Lost City of Z (book). My favorite movie that I have seen recently is Tambien la Lluvia (Even the Rain). I am always looking for recommendations! I have been on a podcast kick recently; let me know what you are enjoying!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hmmm...here are some options:
I was charged by a grizzly protecting her cubs. Thankfully, we all made it out of the situation unharmed.
I have been on three self-supported off-road adventure rides > 2000 miles. One of these included crossing the west side of the Great Salt Lake en route to the Grand Canyon.
After the better part of a decade as a vegetarian, I learned how to harvest my own meat. I consider myself an ethical hunter, animal lover, and conservationist.
I am the founder of a business and co-founder of a non-profit.
Teach, Learn, Share
Nothing brings people together better than a good meal, so I love to share in the kitchen (or around a campfire) with guests and hosts. I always want to learn new recipes and culinary skills.
I moved to the west to spend as much time as possible playing in the mountains, and I am happy to offer advice about things to do or to bring guests out on adventures if our schedules are compatible. Bring your backcountry gear if you are coming up to ski!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Adventures, food, drinks and laughs! I am decent with my hands and would be happy to help with house projects or anything mechanical that needs fixing. Also happy to exercise your dogs. And, of course, I'd love to cook a meal for your house!
