About Me

I started long term travelling as soon as I finished high school, over 7 years ago. In this time I have travelled to over 20 countries, worked in 5, studied in another 4, as well as somehow managing to complete my degree. I really appreciate spending a long time in the places I visit and getting to know what its like to live amongst different people and cultures.

I have just(feb 2018) moved to North America with my boyfriend and we are travelling and living in a van for the next 2 years.

I play ultimate frisbee and soccer when I'm in town and when I can get out of town I love hiking, climbing and camping. I am outgoing and up for trying new things. I love to cook! Let me cook for you!

My passion is the natural environment, being in the outdoors experiencing nature and living in ways compatible with it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because people are amazing. I've had some fantastic experiences with new people I've met. I've also found myself in tough times travelling and am always amazed at the generosity of strangers, that I can now call friends.
I love meeting new people, but I also want to give back and show the same kindness and generosity to others that has been shown to me over the years.

Interests

Being outdoors! Climbing, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, caving, diving.. and open to suggestions!

EcoDesign, development work, environmental psychology, outdoor education :)
I believe our everyday actions, whether positive or negative towards the environment, are directly related to the time and experiences we have had in the outdoors.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to a huge mix. My music is a collection of the people I've met over the years and rather than being connected to a genre I find myself connected to a memory that a song brings back- help me add more to my playlist!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I met an amazing group of couch surfers in January 2013. 5 people from different countries gathering in Bali to climb the islands highest volcano, Mt Agung. It was a 13hr hike, starting at midnight and having very few stops until 1pm the following day. It was so physically challenging and it was amazing seeing the support that 5 strangers could give each other. We spent a total of about 18 hours together, but I will not forget them!

Teach, Learn, Share

Almost all of my travels so far have been due to a work/learning/volunteering opportunity I have been lucky enough to have been offered.
I have taught outdoor education in the UK, Environmental Education in Bali, learnt local bamboo building techniques in Cambodia, participated in a social regeneration workshop in Banda Aceh, participated in a leadership workshop in New Zealand and taught environmental education and English in the Maldives. Everywhere else I have visited has been along side these.
