About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm getting older. My mission used to be: travel the world, see everything I can, meet new people. Then for many years it became: settle down, build a career, and enjoy life.

And now...now I have a little break in that career building, and I get to go back to the days of meeting tons of new people and learning! I'm excited to get back into the world!

ABOUT ME

I love to travel, especially in the developing world. I'm happy sleeping about anywhere that's flat, and look at inconveniences in traveling as fodder for good stories. Getting angry helps nothing and only makes me look bad.

I respect: efficiency, productivity, compassion.

PHILOSOPHY

I've realized that many hinge points in my life--things that changed the course of my life dramatically--were from meeting strangers. I got really, really lucky to meet the right strangers, who told me something or showed me something that made life so much better. CS gives me a chance for even more of those lucky meetings.

Kindness is important.

Also, it's not philosophy, but I love Australia, and would like to move there some day. If you request a couch from me, please start the request with "Australia is nice." If you do, I'll be more likely to host you. CS isn't about just getting a free room; it is about meeting people that you want to share something with. And I want to share more with people who have actually taken the time to read my profile and learn about me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted 30+ people in my home in Kingman, but since I've moved I am not able to anymore. I miss that quick connection and easy conversation that comes with having a guest. Still, I'm excited to be a guest when I travel!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed in many different countries, and was very active in both the Phoenix and Kingman (Arizona) communities when I was there. I know that CS isn't just about a free room; it's about making a connection with a local. I've never had a bad CS experience!

Interests

Nursing, art, science, culture, movies, comedy, random bizarre stuff, new experiences, adrenalin activities, hiking.

Music, Movies, and Books

Eckhardt Tolle is my favorite author. His books on finding peace in the moment, and the impact of the ego on how we all behave, have really impacted my view on myself and other people. It caused a paradigm shift.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The country of Burma (Myanmar) in general. Truly generous, kind people held hostage by a terrible government. There is a romantic story of the poor being incredibly generous; in Burma, the story is true.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A dinner? I can't say I'm great with cooking, but I'll give it a shot. More likely (and what I would like more) would be to treat you to a dinner out.

I've also spent about 3 years of my life overseas, and done quite a bit with CS here. If you are new to this, I'd be happy to share my experiences and what I've found to work.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belize, Cambodia, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, France, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Indonesia, Italy, Laos, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Myanmar, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Panama, Poland, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Vatican City State, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, China, Guatemala, Philippines, United States
