About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To free the world of fossil fuels :)

ABOUT ME

Hi!

Well where to start?

So I grew up in BOONVILLE! Yeah great name I know :) Let me say that its name totally backs up it's existence. Yup! Lots of cows (probably more than the current population count), lots of trucks (rarr!), and plenty of people to keep things interesting. I spent ~23 years of my life here (my homebase for traveling during this time).

I also lived in Alaska for 7 months. I was able to experience 2 solstices and an equinox all the while not catching one glimpse of the northern lights...I know lame :/ It wasn't all that bad though. I met some friends that I didn't know I had, attained a pilot's license (haven't flown in ~6 yrs now :/ ), lived with my sister (who is still there), worked (blah), road my bike all over Anchorage!

Currently I'm living in Ithaca, NY. It's right where I want to be right NOW. I'm working for a fabulous outfit called TAITEM (Technology As If The Earth Mattered). I'm involved in all sorts of energy conservation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy projects. Oh! and most importantly the people are all great and diverse and funny, and compassionate. Truly an honor to be in such a place.

I live with a family of four (Todd, Suzy, Ila, and Tezia). It's a cooperative lifestyle where money isn't exchanged (who needs that stuff anyway). I garden, do dishes, help with the kids, Clean dishes, tend the chickens, dry the dishes, grocery shop, put the dishes away, fix things, and pretty much do dishes :) I love living this way.

There are so many people that have helped shape my very existence and being. The most notable would be Sammi! She helped me realize my love for traveling all over again and helped me quit my unsatifying job and realize that people have FEELINGS (even me :) ). She's my shooting star.

Clearly I could go on forever. It's probably a good thing to save some for when we meet huh? Right!

Onward,
Nick

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Still figuring this one out...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I stayed with this wonderful lady (Shelly) in Rochester, NY with my girlfriend (Sammi) in Sept 2009. It was the night before my first marathon (see photos) and she was the MOST helpful host! She cooked a fabulous Israeli dinner, helped Sam make encouraging posters, and offered the best of conversation that one could expect.

My second experience was also wonderful. It took place in Normal, IL. The experience was anything but 'normal.' Lynn's hospitality was above and beyond. She has an amazing voice too :)

Both of these people are in my life to stay :)

Interests

I love so many things (where to start)...

Probably the thing I do (and enjoy) the most is running. Mostly on trail with no distance in mind. Running to run. Barefoot is best!

Among other things I love a good book, renewable energy, building things, gardening, mostly learning to garden at this point, hiking, climbing, being in nature, discovering, exploring, friends, ... Ahhh how could one be bored???
