About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To master the ukulele and become fluent in Spanish!

ABOUT ME

Why hello there!
I'm Nick, I'm a positive, friendly traveller from Aus and I think that if you keep reading my profile you'll be able to get a pretty good idea of who I am =]

Currently I'm heading passing through parts of Europe as I wind up my long trip before heading home to Aus.

I love my food and enjoy trying all different kinds!... That being said I'm a vegetarian so by all different kinds I mean specifically those excluding meats... and fish... and chicken...hmmm, does that still count as all different kinds? What does all different kinds really mean anyway? Do sharks really die if they stop swimming? Does anybody REALLY know what time it is?!?

PHILOSOPHY

"Have a heart that never hardens, and a temper that never tires, and a touch that never hurts." - nabbed from Dickens

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Attending events, meeting up with people through CS and surfing in a few different places. I'm really looking forward to stopping somewhere along the road and doing some hosting of my own!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A mixture of different CS events such as: walking tours in Europe, weekly meetings, and meeting up with CS's for an epic pillow fight in Trafalgar Square for International Pillow Fight Day!!
In the last couple of years I surfed in Chicago, DC and also spent a couple of weeks in Pennsylvania on an organic farm (more WWOOFing than CS there though).

Interests

Music - Love listening to all sort of music. Have been thinking about picking up a small instrument to learn whilst travelling around... thinking maybe tin whistle or harmonica - any suggestions?
Update: purchase made - couldn't resist going with the classic ukulele =]

I also love my reading and enjoy lots of genres like general fiction, fantasy, sci-fi, philosophy, science etc. (It seems I'm in a bit of a phase of reading older novels at the moment. - 'For whom the bell tolls' and 'Far from the madding crowd' being a couple of those that I've just read).
Quick mention: I read David Copperfield by Dickens recently - absolutely loved this book. Such a beautiful tale told with so much heart, humour and involving so many memorable characters.

I really enjoy playing sports, especially team sports. I'm hoping to find lots of opportunities to join in and play football all around the world!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - I listen to a radio station in Australia a lot (triple j).
Stuff that I'm listening to at the moment includes: Cage the Elephant, Chvrches, Arctic Monkeys, Jagwar Ma, Bombay Bicycle Club

As I said above, definitely an avid reader! Two favourite books would be: 1984, One flew over the cuckoos nest

Movies, how do I narrow this down?
I tried to come up with a favourites short list when chatting to someone recently, so some of the ones mentioned included: Groundhog Day, Inception, When Harry Met Sally, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Trekking in Nepal in 2013 - was a fantastic experience and I just got so much from the awesome people I met there, both the Nepali and other foreign travellers. This was the trip that inspired me to set out on a longer journey the following year.

Teach, Learn, Share

Some random skills that I'm happy to share include: juggling, riding a unicycle and flinging cards across the room (X-men Gambit style).
I love spending some time in the kitchen, particularly when I'm cooking with other people.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Music, food, conversation - whatever!
I love to have a good chat and hear other peoples opinions, love to cook with other people, play some music together etc.
