Hey there, I'm Nicklas.

Since I read Jack Kerouac's "On the road" I'm infected with the travel-virus. Diretly after finishing High School I packed my things and took a flight to Indonesia - Central Java. I worked there for six months as a volunteer in a boarding school and travelled in my free time around Indonesia. I fell immediately in love with the country, the people and the food which is super delicious!

I love to travel and try do it as often as I can. Couchsurfing is for me a great opportunity to escape the tourist bubble and connect with many people from other countries.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I couchsurfed a couple of times in Czech Republic, Spain and Morocoo. I also hosted a couple of people in Freiburg. I'm really greatful for being able to meet so many different and interesting people through this website.

Interests

- I like absurd, creepy and unsettling stuff (like the short stories by H.P. Lovecraft and videos by David Firth, Titanic Sinclair, Surreal Entertainment and Pamtri).

- I make Videos. They are usually pretty weird. Ask me about them and I'll tell you more.

- Political Performance Art (like the ones by the German collective: "Zentrum für Politische Schönheit" (https://politicalbeauty.com/)

- Political Satire ("Last Week Tonight" with John Oliver, "Die Anstalt" with Max Ulthoff and Claus von Wagner)

- Green Tea. My absolut favorite tea! I usually have about 5 different kinds of green tea at home.

- Poetry Slam

- Longboarding

- Table tennis

- Meditating (I try to practice it every day, but well I don't always succeed^^).

- Biking with my beloved racing bicycle

- Hiking in the mountains. (When I got time I plan to go to the Alpes for some weeks, actually one of the reasons why I always wanted to move to Vienna).

- High and windy places

- Meeting people from all over the world

- Trying food from other countries

- Learning more about other countries, cultures, ...

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I like Techno. Mostly I listen to spheric, dreamlike and melancholic techno music. My all-time favorite DJ is Coccolino Deep. (https://www.youtube.com/CoccolinoDeepChannel)

Movies: I like movies that challenge me and give me a new perspective on life. My favorite movies are: Fight Club (!), American Beauty, Lost in Translation, Vanilla Sky, Trainspotting, Only Lovers Left Alive, Toni Erdmann, Her, Oh Boy, The Act of Killing, Into the Wild, Gattaca, Monty Python, The Dark Knight.

Favorite worst movie: The Room with Tony Wiseau.

TV Series: Black Mirror, South Park, Breaking Bad, House of Cards (only watched the first three seasons)

Books: 1984, Fahrenheit 451, short stories by H.P. Lovecraft, Momo, Catcher in the Rye, Die Känguru-Chroniken, books by Hermann Hesse (especially Demian and Steppenwolf), books by Nick Hornby.
