About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm a Madison, WI native and will always come back here, but I do enjoy the occasional journey elsewhere. I run a small business selling antiques online, and also help run our local co-op bike shop and a DIY music performance space. I'm slowly working my towards a degree at UW when time permits. I love hiking and biking year round, seeing all kinds of live music, from symphonies to grindcore, building stuff, reading and writing. I'm extremely busy, all the time.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

To be completely honest, there is probably a huge stack of unanswered emails asking me if I have a couch. I'm just getting back into the site (since I haven't traveled in a couple years, and haven't lived in a big enough place to host people).

I am, as I said above, extremely busy. School, work, nonprofit endeavors and sleep eat every single day. So I'm probably not the best person to host travelers, since I never know when I'm going to get home or wake up in the morning. However, I do enjoy showing people around Madison, so hit me up if you want a whirlwind tour of local history and peculiarity.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've used the site to travel on the East Coast a few times and had a great time. My old roommate had an account and often brought travelers home, sometimes whole touring bands. I should probably mention that I can help with show booking in Madison (if I like your music, and the details fit, of course!).

Music, Movies, and Books

Music-- black, thrash, and doom metal, old punk, folk rock a la Fairport Convention, classical music, sixties rock, industrial...I have wide but picky tastes.

I don't really watch many movies, but I like Dead Man, Vagabond, Taxi Driver, anything by Kieslowski, flashy gangster movies like Layer Cake.

Books: Far, far too much to list, but...history, sci-fi, Tolkien, Shakespeare, myths, archly British mystery novels, travel guides, maps.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swimming above shipwrecks in the Hebrides...singing Bach in a choir in a 9th-century church in Poland...running away from a lightning storm on a bluff in northern WI.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a good grasp of history, geography, and english lit, mostly self-taught, so there are some gaps, but I warn you, stay with me and you'll leave with more books in your pack than you know what to do with. I know my way around tools, and can do carpentry and fix bikes.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
