About Me

I'm from (North) America but I live in China.

I used to use couchsurfing a lot, but it started getting weird from 2018 onwards I think. Anyway I'm back now. Maybe it has taken a turn for the better. I'm interested in language exchanges and discussing topics like life goals and traveling. Depending on where you're from, we can also consider talking politics. I'm a serious but easy going person. That being said, I'm pretty selective as to who I hang out with. I appreciate effort. I appreciate people who like to challenge themselves. I appreciate those who go out of their way to expand their worldview and put themselves in the shoes of those who may be less privileged. Well, if you know you know. I'm no philanthropist, I've just had lots of interesting experiences, for which I am grateful and consider myself very privileged.

By the way, I'm currently learning Russian and Vietnamese. Traveling to Russia is my dream, but I don't like traveling to places where I don't know the language. I find it really takes away from the experience. Sure, I've done it many times, for example Korea, Myanmar, Indonesia, but the places where I did know the language, even a little bit, I was able to have a much more fulfilling experience.

So yeah, I'm basically a language nerd and most of my joy in life comes from studying practices learning new languages (even though this has nothing to do with my profession). I think languages can help us get a new perspective on the world, understand a different culture and put ourselves in other people's shoes.

I am also a history/politics nerd but most people on this app have pretty bad politics unless they are maybe Chinese, Vietnamese etc ... So most likely I will not want to talk about politics with you :) no offense. I respect people based on the way they act and not their ideologies. I'm also learning new things everyday.
