About Me

Hi! So, I am an ESL teacher in China, going on my third year.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I find that, when I travel, I become a different person. My socializing ability takes off! It started off as a necessity, and now it's because I love to meet new people and get a little adrenaline rush introducing myself. I think it's the best part of travelling. I love to see if this new person has similar interests, or similar experiences and things we can share. And occasionally, things we can complain about (I mean, sometimes you gotta vent, right?)

I'd love to see where and how we would get along. From similar family craziness to travel experiences, or eating experiences (You should try chicken feet), it's so invigorating to connect like that.

Interests

I am still developing my interests. Sounds weird, but I am working on becoming more well rounded, so finding new hobbies is a goal of mine this year.

But, I do have a few...

I've always been a bit of a gamer, though less so the past few years. Been playing some FIFA and Fallout recently

I really have learned to LOVE live music, and dancing to said music. It's helped me meet so many people! If you play Hip to be Square, I'm dancing. That's it.

Scuba diving when I can. Thailand planted the bug in me, and now I can't get it out.

Sports. I'm American so, Football and Baseball are my top two. I wish I followed soccer more. But I do play FIFA, so that's worth a few points, right?

Food. Especially local dishes! In China, there are SO MANY varieties of food. I won't eat Stinky Tofu though. Hell no.

Last, I am more and more interested in physical activity. Use to be a bit of a couch potato, but the past year I've really worked towards getting healthier. So, this year I hope to expand even further!

Music, Movies, and Books

Let's see...

Music : Most anything with a good beat. As I said, live music I can dance to does it for me. By myself, pretty much a little of everything. My tastes are varied.

Movies: Like, SO MANY. I can't even begin to list them. If you've seen, I'm sure I've seen it.

Podcasts: Figured I'd add this category. Currently subscribed to Reply All, This American Life, PTI, The Art of Charm, Bill Simmons, Bill Burr, and a few others.
Books: All the HP books, ASOIAF, and most recently The Martian. I actually am ashamed how little reading I've done the past few years. I used to be a fiend.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Trekking up Mt. Batur in Ubud, Bali. Not as terrible a trek up as I thought it would be despite it being so so early. Made it up just in time for the sunrise luckily. A little cloudy, but the sun did make a brief appearance.

The coolest part though was going down. Wow. We all head down an opposite way of where we came up, and it wasn't too bad. Definitely a little tired but energized from the GORGEOUS day.

At one point the lead guide took off and started jogging down the mountain. A few others did as well. So I tagged along. It was much easier going down at a faster pace than watching each step

With the wind blowing in my hair, I got to be in between the walkers and the joggers. I made it to the forest area and wow. Just wow. For about 2 minutes, all I could hear was leaves rustling, animals chirping and the sound of nature. The sun was out, but it was cool in the shade and I just had to stop and take it in. Is that what

I need to go back there.

Teach, Learn, Share

I wish I had things to teach! Which sounds weird coming from an English teacher, haha! But I assume if you're reading this, you don't need any lessons.

I am certainly willing to learn about anything you'd like to divulge.

Now that I think about it, I am trying to learn better dance moves, so if you have any trick of the trade, I'm all ears.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories? Drinks? A candle-lit dinner?

All of the above are cool with me! And honestly, if you want to have someone to watch and discuss whether Lord of the Rings is better than Star Wars on the couch while... inebriated, I'm totally fine with that.

China, Germany, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Thailand, Viet Nam
