About Me

I'm a filmmaking student from beautiful Colombia! I'm doing a Master in various countries in Europe so I'm travelling as much as possible everywhere! I like to chat, to cook, to go out and to discover places through locals! Easygoing, friendly, and keen to help and learn always!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think is a cool way to know people around the world and know cities by the hand of locals, to discover good places to eat, good places to go out, get in contact with the real culture of everyplace instead of the touristic perspective.

Interests

Interested in know people around the world and in learning about their culture, traditions, cuisine, stories. I like to chat and listen to people, I study documentary film directing and I believe that traveling and exchanging experiences is a way of cultivate and develop ideas for films in the future. I'm interested in history, food, sports, and films, of course.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like every kind of music, but especially african rhythms as Funana, mourna, kizumba, and kuduro. I also like reggae, hiphop, salsa, reggaeton and cumbia. I'm not mentioning rock since everybody likes it.

Of course I like a lot documentaries, in particular those that can raise question or generate good changes, like Presumed guilty or the Two Escobar, to name but two.

However I also like mainstream movies, specially the ones based in true events and trips like In to the wild, Milk, also biographies as Jobs, Mandela, Ali, Invictus...

I like the Lord of the Rings and I don't like Star wars.

I'm a big fan of Alejandro Gonzales Iñarritu and my favorite movie from him is Amores Perros.

My favourite book is "One hundred years of solitude" by the Colombian novel Gabriel García Marquéz, and I found all his body of work something really original, creative and powerful, I have read his book various time and also I like the work of his son Gonzalo Garcia. I also like books that start from reality to construct their atmosphere as Truman Capote, Henry Miller, Hernest Heminguay, Jon Lee Anderson, Julio Cortazar and Leila Guerriero.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I worked in documentary filmmaking in Colombia for some years. Once, I was doing a research for a documentary in a rural area of Colombia and I got stuck in a cable, in a kind of Canopy cable, in the middle of the trip the pulley wheel which my harness was holding from got out the cable so I was suspended at 400 mts over a river for more than an hour. Since the place and the conditions were really remote, rather that wait to be rescued, I decided to pull myself through the cable until the end for almost 40 minutes. That was probably the time that I was closer to die, but I'm happy that I was able to have calm and control to overcome the fear and myself drag myself until the end of the line safely.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm happy to share cooking tips, recipes, pictures, and films I have done, what is more, I'm always open to get a different perspective and feedback about what I do, I think it helps me to do it better. Also I'm always happy share stories about indigenous tribes and rituals in Colombia and South America, which is one of my favourites topics. I think there are a lot go prejudgments so I'm always cool to speak frankly about the situation of my country and listen also experiences of other places. I love to cook so I'll be keen to cook a "bandeja paisa"(traditional dish in Colombia) if wherever we are we are able to find the ingredients, if not, I think we can figure out other thing to do.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm keen and eager to prepare a nice dinner/breakfast/lunch, and to share a wine or a beer and to have a long chat.
