About Me
A big hello to whoever is reading this…. So, yeah, a big hello to you.
Our Names are Gautam and Nicole and we are a recently married couple that without really intending to got established in Valencia, Spain. It was some sort of cosmic accident but works so well that one may say it could be destiny.
About us
Me, Nicole (28), I am from Guatemala although I have mostly German roots. I grew up in Guatemala and when I was 18 I moved to Germany to study. At some point during my studies I discovered that hitchhiking was possible (thanks to some lovely couch surfers) which led me to embark on a journey of self discovery through traveling. Sometime after that is when I met Gautam.
Gautam (27) is French/German. Meaning he was born and raised in France but his parents are German. Gautam lived in France until the age of 15 which is when he moved to Amritsar in India for his 3 last years of high school after which he lived one more year in Malaysia and spent a few years as a full time traveler after that. That is until he met me, of course.
What can you expect from us?
We are outgoing and enjoy a good conversation, be about some deep matter or just some chit chat. We enjoy being around other humans and learning from them. We are interested in culture, history and art, in new ideas 💡 and in old traditions. We try to be very respectful and helpful and we are genuinely interested in you as person, what you think and who you are.
We just got married this may (2023) after 2 years of planning and paperwork.
Momentarily we both work although we never stop studying, learning and developing what we want and who we want to be.
If all of this seems interesting to you we would love to meet you!!! Be it as travelers or as hosts!!!!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We like CS because is a way of meeting all kinds of people open to alternative ways of living that can open your world view in some way or another. We think we give our life a meaning through the people we meet and share part of us with and we have met some pretty awsome human beings through CS, some just for a few days, even only hours, others that have become more than just good friends.
Also, by hosting travelers is almost as if traveling in your daily life.
This is the first time we try using CS after the pandemic and we are quite excited to be back!!!!
Interests
If we are talking of common interests, I like art or artistic expression. I draw good enough for you to make sense of my sketches and completely fail to combine colors, although I enjoy trying. I am interested in literature and writing, I enjoy listening to music and seeing people dance when they know how to. I am interested in psychology and human beings in general. To be honest, I can get interested in almost anything (especially if it is something that you are passionate about and would like to share with me). The only thing I can't really get interested in, is in ideas I am bombarded with by the media on a daily basis and have no trace of originality. I sometimes get stuck in those too, but I try to get passed them as soon as I realize it.
(Nicole talking but Gautam has many similar interests and then some more ;)
- culture
- psychology
- art
- spirituality
- humans
- etc
Music, Movies, and Books
We like many movies, music from all over the world and lots of books, although sometimes we can’t remember which…
Some of my favorites are
The catcher in the rye, memorias de Idhun, Mrs Dalloway…
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Swimming with sharks...
Teach, Learn, Share
Every thing I have experienced I can share... my biggest talent: how to effectively burn rice, or almost every meal for that matter ;) know I got you with that one!
As to learn... well, I'm always looking to get some more value into my life. But not that interested in memorizing information, if it's something I can apply in my life, there you have me.
Especially if it's something I can pass on later!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Funny stories, good moments, interesting conversations, you name it! I'm very versatile.
