About Me

I am a Canadian student who loves to travel! I'm currently in France for a semester abroad. My love for travelling began 2 years ago when I spent 2 weeks in Iceland. The magic of the land of ice and snow with the midnight sun at where the hotsprings blow (Led Zeppelin reference...yes I am also a music addict) opened my eyes. I now wish to explore to world! I also play drums, so I can give a quick percussion lesson to anyone who would lend me their couch ;).

I am relatively introverted (which means I don't take a lot of space) but I love to meet new people and to learn about different cultures. I especially like talking about sustainability and the environnement, but we can discuss music, technology, politics...pretty much anything!

So that's it! Can't wait to meet you :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

People. Meeting different people is like reading a book or listening to a new song. We learn so much. One of my life goals is never to stop learning. If I can learn from from a couchsurfer, this whole experience will have been simply perfect! I also would like to teach people about myself, my country and my life experiences. This mutual sharing is simply beautiful!

Interests

Music! I've been playing drums for close to 10 years. I have seen multiple concerts too. Music is a universal language that moves the soul.

Travelling! Life is an adventure. Every fraction of a new experience helps us grow and live our lives to the fullest!

The environnement and learning to think differently! Why am I studying environmental management? Because it makes us think differently. To solve the problems that plague our planet (pollution, over-consumerism, lose in biodiversity, etc.), we have to think outside the box. We can't simply stand still, we need to innovate! This is a major interest of mine, and I hope my experience couchsurfing will help me learn more!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love almost all types of music! I love rock and jazz, for I have played in both a alternative rock band a jazz ensemble. Electro, Metal and Hip-hop are also among genres I like. At the moment, I really dig Post-Rock, which is instrumental rock the focuses on atmosphere and feeling! Favorite bands: Sigur Ros, Explosions in the Sky, Mew, Porcupine Tree, Bloc Party, The Cat Empire, Muse and much more!

Favorite movies: The Matrix, Whiplash, Forest Gump.

Favorite books: Animal Farm (Orwell), Perfume (Suskind), Fahrenheit 451 (Bradbury)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I participated in a eco-housing internship at Earthship Biotecture! I lived 3 weeks in a proto-Earthship in the New Mexico desert and I helped to build one of these amazing houses built of tires, cans and abode (sand and straw). I learned a lot about sustainable housing, building with recycled materials, renewable energies and much more. Simply an amazing experience!

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't really know what to put here so I'll just put one of my favorite movie passages:

"Spoon boy: Do not try and bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth.
Neo: What truth?
Spoon boy: There is no spoon.
Neo: There is no spoon?
Spoon boy: Then you'll see, that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself."

- The Matrix, 1999
