ABOUT ME

Basically, the designed environment excites me. Design may be the most overused word but what can I call Santiago Calatrava's origami bridges, Oscar Niemeyer's sensual monuments, Michael Graves' bird kettle, Irma Boom's experiments on pages, the Moleskine tradition, and Lego?!?

I enjoy collecting beautiful but useless things, like chocolate foil wrappers and underwear. I also like to smell of coffee and biscotti at the end of the day.

Movies: Once, The Science of Sleep, Strictly Ballroom, The Godfather I, Stranger than Paradise, Say Anything, Torremolinos 73, In the Mood for Love, Ciudade de Deus, Les Quatre Cent Coups, De Battre Mon Coeur S'est Arreté, plus whatever I can unearth every week at my friendly pirated DVD shop.

Music: Mostly rock / alt / triphop, but sometimes I surprise myself when I lipsynch to Carrie Underwood -- The Cure, Flight of the Conchords, Portishead, Placebo, Cocteau Twins, This Mortal Coil, DJ Shadow, MC Solaar, Urban Species, Drip, Soundgarden, Rage Against The Machine, Screaming Trees, Pearl Jam, Sascha Funke, Toe, Yoshida Brothers, explosions in the sky, Michael Nyman, Bjork, Moby, Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova.

Books: I'm a sucker for Phaidon's tomes and Dorling Kinderley's Eyewitness series. I loved Ender's Game (Orson Scott Card), Griffin and Sabine (Nick Bantock), Sandman series, Stardust (Neil Gaiman), LOTR (Tolkien)--mostly anything that keeps me out of touch with reality.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm up for any language exchange! I can teach English and Filipino, and would like to improve my Spanish and French. Oh, PM me too if you know a cool craft like glass blowing or making cast-iron mobiles in the shape of farm animals.
