ABOUT ME
I'm originally from El Salvador, but I've lived and travelled to bunches of places. Just finished college in the US (video/theater/Latin American studies major) and I'm ready to go on to other places! In a nutshell, I'm friendly, snarky, and geeky.
PHILOSOPHY
A lot of my politics come from being raised by a thoughtful Buddhist Marxist. I grew up believing strongly that all beings deserve to be free, safe, content and loved, which has led me to identify as an anarcha-feminist and an animal liberationist. So basically I care a lot about people and animals being happy.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I met such lovely people while couchsurfing in Europe in 2013, so maybe I can offer an equally nice hosting experience while in San Salvador!
Interests
Reading (fiction, fantasy, history, poetry), urban exploration, playing ukulele (poorly), drawing, writing letters, collaging, drinking too much coffee and talking about politics, language, history, and existential quandries. I also really love to cook and sew and hang out in nature.

Music, Movies, and Books
I really like books and films and music, so I'm only going to list things that I've been into recently or else this section will go on for awhile.
I'm currently reading Cenizas de Izalco by Claribel Alergía and Darwin Flakoll, and also The Golden Compass by Phillip Pullman.
In the film department, I've recently enjoyed Blancanieves (the recent silent one), This Is England, and Billy Elliot.
I'm a former (or current peripheral) punk who listens to all sorts of things. I really like son huasteco, atmospheric black metal, r&b from the early part of the millenium, cumbia, post-punk of all kinds...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Coordinating a medical brigade that took us to the mountains in Chalatenango, El Salvador. The experience was beautiful for many reasons- the jungle! The altitude! The beauty! The insane rides in the back of pickup trucks! But it was also incredible going to small towns and talking to people about their healthcare needs and seeing how they were being met by an amazing team of medical providers in such remote places. Such tremendous organizing power in such far-flung places!
Teach, Learn, Share
I love learning new languages and historical facts! I also love learning new things on the ukulele.
I'm a real good vegan cook, so I'm happy to share that as a skill.
