Overview
About Me
I'm a programmer and musician. I play jazz and classical piano, but I mostly make electronic music these days for fun. I used to teach piano while in music school, but I stopped that when I started computer science.
I'm just finishing a degree in computer science, and I'm going to travel a bit in Europe to visit some friends from high school who work in the UK and Switzerland, before I start working full time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm free for 2 months (July and August 2015), and I'll be in Europe! there's still so many places I need to visit in Europe so I'm open to all suggestions.
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm new to the site and I never hosted before except "real-life" friends. But I think it would be fun to host! I have a futon-bed available and plenty of space currently, I can meet for a drink, show you around Montreal, etc.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None! Although I stayed at some friends' places in the past very often when travelling, they were always friends who I knew from work or school beforehand. Looking forward to meet people through this site and explore new cities!

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy TED talks a lot. Also I tend to watch documentaries more than movies.
For books I tend to read non-fiction. I liked books by Steven Pinker and Richard Dawkins. I read a good book recently called the Mocking Memes, another called the Lights In The Tunnel about how robots are gradually stealing human jobs and how it would be a real problem. Also a few others on Artificial Intelligence that were real eye-openers.
For electronic music here's some of the artists I liked in the past:
Crystal Castles, Vektroid, Com Truise, Todd Terje, Legowelt, Nathan Fake, Aphex Twin, Vitalic, Jon Hopkins, and even Justice, Diplo, Deadmau5 ... and even Skrillex -- yes I can 100% appreciate Skrillex, I appreciate a well made pop tune or dance track in any style :)
Other than electronic music, I can't get enough of John Coltrane. Wynton Kelly has the best, juiciest piano solos. Bill Evans can be a great inspiration.
Jamiroquai, tracks from Travelling Without Moving are so groovy sometimes, gotta love that vibe :)
Joy Division often struck my chords, good vibes.
For classical, I'm a huge fan of Ligeti, Stravinsky, Ravel, Debussy, Chopin and Bach. I just learned Chopin's Revolutionary etude a few weeks ago for fun, it's still sinking in, major left hand workout :P
