About Me

I'm an American living in Japan. After studying Japanese history and language in college, I decided to move to Japan (working as an English teacher) to master Japanese and immerse myself into as many uncomfortable, new situations as possible. I've always had a thirst for the unknown, and Japan is my latest stop on what I hope is a life of adventure.

I like to think I'm pretty laid back and open-minded. I try to understand where people are coming from before imparting judgment, which is hard sometimes, but is something we should all take control of. I enjoy hearing how people give meaning to their everyday lives, and how their unique situations/experiences have shaped their world view.

My Philosophy: Most everything is worth trying once. Or Twice.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Staying at a hotel is fine and well, but staying with a person open enough to let a stranger into their house seems like the best way to learn about an area and its people. The profiles of the members of this community are terrific! It seems that as a rule, couch surfers are trusting and down-to-earth people, which are the kind of people I want to make connections with. Even if just for a week or a day, couch surfing provides a venue for people with similar spirits of adventure and community to share, learn, and help each other on their journeys. Most people don't have the means to explore the places and people of the world and develop a more nuanced understanding of the human experience. There's no way I'm going to waste my opportunity!

MY EXPERIENCE:

I'm new but I am so excited to Surf AND Host. I think both can be rewarding in unique ways. I want to share myself and also learn from you!

If its a physical, outdoor activity, then I'm game! I can show you how to get the very best out of your physical self. Lets go camping and run down a mountain!

I can also show you how to lose at N64 smash brothers. Bring it.
