About Me

I am studying medicine, and attending a specialisation in neurology, especially for the brain pathologies. This is a very interesting range of investigations because it is a frontier between medicine and social science through human behaviours.
Every country has a different way to teach medicine and it is dfficult to find proper equivalences. In the UK, I would be a trainee and in the US a resident, if I had studied in theses countries.

Some (Most actually) times I act a little bit oddly, but never in a mean way :-) I feel myself rather like un funky monkey wearing human suits.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A few friends of mine travelled with this website and had amazing experiences by meeting local people. I wanted to try that while travelling two months in China...and I have not been disappointed !

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to a lot of kind of music, but mainly Rock Music. I grew up with the Beatles, even if I was clearly not born in the 60's, and I feel very close to the Nowhere Man song. Georges Brassens is also one of my main influence. To give you a third reference (I like the count of three), still playing on stage, I am a great fan of Gorillaz.

To continue with "the count of three" movies : Fight Club by David Fincher, Forest Gump by Robert Zemekis and Blade Runner by Ridley Scott (the 1982 one).

And what about books, this part in three references is very difficult because I read a lot. I will cheat with this (personal) rule and rather give you three writers : Isaac Asimov for the science fiction section, Yasunari Kawabata who litteraly wrote wonderful "pictures" of the japanese society and Emile Zola for the french section.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been travelling in Prague (Czech Republic) with 8 womens (I am sooo sorry to disappoint you, but this is not yet the incredible part of the story...). Unfortunately, I have never been that good for playing the role of a jet pilot.

We were walking in the city center for hours, looking for local food : there is a lot of street food but Czech food is not that easy to find out. The buildings were amazing, little houses style wth bright colours, but unfortunately the presence of too many tourists made the place look like Dysneyland rather than a Czech city. For example, the surrounding speeches you could hear were mainly english, german and french ; I am not even sure to have met Czech people in this city.

While the sadness and disappointment were growing in me, maybe these feelings were noticeable on my face, maybe I just looked odd with my orange clothes (a leather hat and a bag), anyway we stared each other with a man sitting in the street.

He was a tall and bald man, tough guy I will say, sitting on a camping chair. He yelled (in English) for helping him writing a letter. I stopped and began to talk with him. He was trying to write to his father-in-law, who was living in Australia but he had not seen him for decades and did not know how to begin his letter. I decided to help him, even if I absolutely do not remember what we wrote, but the tough guy seemed very happy. Actually, after smiling, he looked rather to a TeddyBear than a Rugby player.

He proposed to offer me a drink but I had to deny because we had a sight to visit after. Suddenly, he glanced at the whole group, and noticed the lady-band. He laughed loudly and told : "Guys, I like the whole of you ! You are my guests tonight, that's my round."
Gazing upwards, I read the building print where he was sitting forward : it was an Australian bar and he was the boss. We came back the very night, with 3 Californian guys we met while they were chosing their next destination by flipping a coin, and the tough guy kept his words. I do not remember the entire night, I just have foggy memories where I danced on a table, almost naked some times (but this point may probably be only in my imagination, because drunk people do not do such things...)

Teach, Learn, Share

I am very interested in pictural art : I love the Impresionnism art movement, I am discovering and diving into Art Nouveau since I moved to Nancy and I also practice chinese painting.

I love folklore and that is the main thing I am looking for during my trips. I was also very implied in student's folklore (mainly french, and a little bit european) during my early university years, and I will be glad to teach you one (or more) student's song.

Finally, if you want to practice some magic, I usually travel with 2 wands. If you were not lucky enough to attend Hogwart's School, it is never too late to learn.

What I Can Share with Hosts

FOOOOOOD ! Or with smarter words : The French Art De Vivre.
I am proud to be born in France and to carry on this reputation of "being able to talk about food, even while [they] are eating..." :-)
I love to cook, mixing the influences of french and chinese (my mother teached me) flavours.

And after a good meal it is very agreable to go outside for a walk ! If you like "city hiking", I can show you beautiful buildings in Nancy to discuss about Art Nouveau / Jugendstill, especially for the way "l'Ecole de Nancy", wich was born in....Nancy (thanks to Captain Obvious)
