ABOUT ME
One backpack, one pair of shoes, one smile, 200 countries to go...
For more than a decade, I was a gardener who escaped cold Canadian winters to travel the world.
But 4 months of traveling a year was not enough, so I switched things around. I now work 4 months a year as tourist guide in India and south east Asia, this leaves me 8 months to sleep on your couch ;)
I'm a fun social guy that doesn't take life too seriously. I like to create whether it's through writing, music or photography. As I spend most of my time on the road, respect for other cultures and different ways of living is really important to me. I like to experience new cultures not just by observing but by immersing myself in it through learning the language, striking up conversation with locals and eating anything and everything from street stalls.
I like to listen to people's stories and share mine. Hope to hear yours...

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Though I never watch tv at home (never had cable tv) I do enjoy watching series and movies on my laptop while traveling. I find it really hard though to find good movies. I recently watched "Rebelle" the Kim Nguyen movie, (not the Disney one!) Just loved it!!
Music: I'm not a great musician, but I can truly say it's in my blood. There's always a beat playing in my head. There's always a melody emerging from my surrounding, from the traffic on the street, the wind blowing in the trees...a bit like in the movie "August Rush". Oh, that's another good one I could add on my movie list :)
I'm always looking for new bands, new styles, new sounds. And I recon the unknown ones are often the best. For example, one of my favorite album is one a bought from two guys playing some "swing porteño" on the street in Buenos Aires. Or there's that other one I bought under a bridge in Sydney from a guy playing some techno music with his didgeridoo and a little beat box. Those are little treasures to me cause I know we are only few people who can enjoy them.
Recently I discovered "Rodrigo y Gabriela", the best strings ever!
Books: I started reading with Bernard Weber 13 years ago and since I'm totally addicted to books. Mostly travel novels and biographies, but you could be very surprised of what's on my bookshelves.
If I had to keep only one book with me for the rest of my life it would be "Pied nu dans l'aube" from the greatest French-Canadian poet ever, Félix Leclerc.
I also like to write...a lot! But that's in French obviously, so don't judge me on my billions of mistakes in English ;)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
To Be here
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share my positive attitude and my curiosity.
I guess I could teach you some French and give you lots of useful travel tips. But I don't like to use the word "teaching", I prefer "sharing".
And as for learning, I'm open to whatever comes my way
