About Me

Before, during and after university I spent time working/ volunteering/ backpacking in various places across the world, which were without doubt cumulatively the best decisions of my life. Travelling makes me happy and keeps my life interesting, and through it I've met some wonderful people. Currently back in the UK working, but am always thinking about my next trip.

I love meeting new people, talking about a wide range of topics and understanding how they see the world. I'm always looking to learn something new from the places I go to and the people I meet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The first few times I went travelling I benefitted so much from the kindness of other people that I decided to give something back (excuse the cliché) when I was living in China, and started to host. And as much as I love the social atmosphere of hostels, I want to use Couchsurfing to allow me to get to know the places I travel to and the people I meet in a more personal way.

Music, Movies, and Books

Top books include Brave New World, Catch 22 and Bridget Jones's Diary (a surefire way to make me laugh). Also anything about international history. I could spend hours browsing bookshops, adding book after book to my never-ending reading list!

First musicians who spring to mind are Queen, The Killers and Maroon 5.

I watch more TV than films, and tend to go for comedies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Teaching in China for a year and watching my students progress not only with their English, but also with their critical thinking skills and their understanding of the world around them.

I also worked for a month in South Africa on a boat which took tourists out cage-diving with great white sharks. That was pretty cool.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a qualified and experienced TEFL (teaching English as a foreign language) teacher, and I'm also willing to share any knowledge I have which may be of interest.

I'm keen to learn absolutely anything, from your language to your local culture to where you work or study. Talk to me about something I don't know!

What I Can Share with Hosts

What I'd most like to share with hosts are interesting conversations (usually over a beer or two), fun times and good memories.
