About Me

I grew up on a beef ranch 30 minutes from the nearest city. I always knew that I was destined for the city, and have lived in Calgary for three years now. I am SO in love with this city; there is so much to do, see, and experience here. I currently manage a wedding gown store, and have a passion for fashion. I have two cats, a boyfriend, and a taste for good wine (I like the bad stuff too!)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My sister is currently in Europe, and she is using couch surfing as a means to stay in Europe for cheaper and longer. I thought this was a really cool idea, and wanted to learn more about it. I figured I would return the favour that all the awesome people are extending to her. Pay it forward! I probably won't get many situations where I get to be a guest, but I am excited to host & have people come stay with us!

Interests

I love fashion, blogging & writing, and baking. My love for fashion has planted a huge desire to travel to Paris, Milan, London, and New York--huge fashion capitals of the world!

I don't really like outdoor activities like hiking, but I do have a really cute Townie bicycle that I go for rides along the river on. My favourite thing to do is have a glass of wine or beer on a patio downtown. Summer is my favourite season in Calgary because there is so much excitement in the streets; buskers, street vendors, outdoor patios, festivals, food trucks...I love exploring Calgary! I'm a fashion lover, feminist, hockey loving, cat adoring, chicken finger eating sort of girl.

It's my dream to explore Asia, specifically Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong...but honestly, anywhere in Asia will do!!

A perfect day for me includes a draught beer, good music, a patio, and writing.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I love everything but the top 40 (for the most part)! Country (Johnny Cash is life), rock, alternative, and everything in between. My favourite bands right now are The Arkells & Milky Chance.

Movies: Once again, I'm sort of eclectic when it comes to my taste in movies. For the most part I like movies that involve the following three things: explosions, sex, and good guys shooting bad guys...I just like to be entertained. If I am going to be deeply moved and crying my eyes out, then I'm going to read a book, not watch a movie. My favourite movies of all time: Spirited Away, Step Brothers, The Simpsons Movie, and Watchmen.

Books: I have been madly in love with Harry Potter since I could read! I have a nerdy Harry Potter tattoo that I only show to fellow HP lovers. I love all books, and typically give anything a try, as long as it is in first person. I really enjoyed the Song of Fire and Ice series, as well as (yes it's cliche) The Hunger Games. Some of my favourite books include: Wasteland, Lost Girls and Love Hotels, and The Outsiders.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This is a terrible question! What is amazing to me might not be amazing to yourself...I consider my life amazing, even though it's terribly average. I've gone on lots of adventures, a few of them have brought about amazing things. ..I won't go into detail, since to be quite honest, I find this question far too boisterous for my taste.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not really in the position to teach...but I can share my experiences with anyone willing to join me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I don't have a ton of world experience or cool background story. I am just a girl that grew up on a farm, fell in love with a city, and works really hard every day to make a life for myself that I'm proud of. What I can share with my hosts is my personality; I think it's a pretty good one. I'm fun, vivacious, insightful, and genuine. I get along with most people, and think that my ability to connect with each person I meet is valuable, and makes me someone that a host would want to let sleep on their couch! In short, I think I can offer some good conversation and an adventurous spirit!
