About Me
こんにちは former/forever expats!
I've just spent the past near decade of my life living abroad, mostly in Europe and Asia. It's been an incredible, eye-opening experience and has given me my first taste of true cultural shock.
According to many personality tests, I am predominantly INFP (introverted, intuitive, sensitive, and perceptive), which would classify me as a Mediator. Basically, I detest conflict and instead look for beauty in everyone and everything. I'm also in pursuit of my 生き甲斐 (purpose).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Like a moth to light, I'm in pursuit of learning, and my mind craves to discover more about international cafe culture. And what better way to explore this topics than through travel. Let's chat over coffee.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: my taste has become as eclectic as the array of human emotions.
Movie: A host taught me that one's favourite movie changes concurrently as one grows and develops. At the moment, it's "There Will Be Blood", but tomorrow, it might be "Memoirs of a Geisha".
Book: The Miraculous Adventures of Edward Tulane (a simple story of belonging)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbed Mount Fuji (3,776 m) in a typhoon. Worst and best experience of my life.
Teach, Learn, Share
Before I die, I want to learn to play the piano, to drive a stick shift, to ride a motorcycle, to speak at least 3 foreign languages, to own my own business, and ultimately, to be completely content.
What I Can Share with Hosts
From living in Japan, I've learned a lot about their quirky culture (e.g., food, fashion, language, work life, art, family life. etc.). I'd love to share this knowledge with you. For example, in contrast to stereotypes, Japan isn't as technologically advanced as one would think, especially in public schools outside of Tokyo. Most teachers don't know how to effectively use technology in the classroom. My favourite moment during my teaching career was when a coworker asked me to copy down the lyrics to an English pop song (with pen and paper) while she played the song repeatedly on a CD player! She never heard of Google up until that point.
