About Me

I'm really easy-going, always ready to help, punctually (trying hard!) and don't need much in life to be happy!

In 2012 I went to New Zealand and stayed there for one year. I worked as an au pair in two different families on the North and the South Island and got to experience the daily kiwi way of life! But that was only half of my time down underer. More than 6 months I spent travelling the country, working on farms or in hostels and going on adventures with fellow travellers. I had the best time of my life so far making such great experiences in this beautiful piece of paradise on earth!

In September 2014, after two gap years, I started my first studies of International Teacher Education for Primary Schools in the small city of Meppel in the Netherlands. After living there for one year, meeting new very good friends, exploring the country and the studies, I decided to continue the same studies in Denmark to get another perspective. Now I just moved to Vordingborg at the end of August 2015 and am enjoying every moment of it this far.

In October 2015 I went on a 2.5 months trip to India. This was an incredible experience. People told me before the trip that one would either come back loving the country or hating it. I can definitely say that all my adventures and experiences were of such positive nature as to make me love India. People, culture and nature. There is something for everyone!
I honestly did not want to leave the country, but will be happy to get back there this summer!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing to be able to fully indulge in the culture and people of the place I am visiting. Hotel, hostels or similar are commonly too private, comfortable and isolating from its environment. My motto is "Live begins at the end of your comfort zone."

"Step out of your comfort zone. You can only grow if you are willing to feel awkward and uncomfortable when you try something new." - Brian Tracey

Many couchsurfing experiences have taught me exactly that. If staying with an unknown host or having unknown surfers over, any way you are uneasy about what is to come! But each encounter has been so enriching that I would not want to miss any of it.

Interests

Travelling's a passion since I decided to go overseas for a year after graduation which is why I try to explore as many new places besides my studies as possible!

When I have the time and spirit I do some drawing as well as painting. That could be anything. Canvas, paper, clothing or my bare skin. Wherever my fantasy takes me..

Music, Movies, and Books

As much as I love meeting up with friends to chat, cook and enjoy each others company....just give me a good book and I'd be occupied for hours. Examples for books I found a good read: Hunting and Gathering (Ensemble c'est tout), Survival in the Killing Fields, .... and all-time favourites: Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, Pride and Prejudice. Not to forget any random blog, article or book on the topic travel I come across.

Moreover, I am a great fan of music - of any kind of music. I could not tell you which genre I like better than others, tho I mostly listen to Indie, Folk, Raggae, Instrumental, etc. Examples would be: The Tallest Man on Earth, Sticky Fingers, Mumford and Sons, Fat Freddy's Drop, Lorde, Bon Iver, SBTRK, ...
