About Me
When I was 12, my mother asked both my sister and I if we wanted to visit France. Although thrilled by this offer, we said we'd rather visit India because we love Indian food and had just watched a travel show about India. I tend to venture off the beaten track and I guess this is no exception.
I am now 23, just graduated, travelled solo around Europe for a while and caught the travel bug big time. I'm blogging about it at nexttrainout.wordpress.com. Feel free to check it out to make sure I'm a legit human being.
Before graduating, I spent my placement year with a non-profit organisation called Teach For Malaysia where I was part of the Fundraising team, planning and executing marketing strategies to engage donors. Throughout the year, I discovered that
a) I really love teaching
b) I can't see myself in a large corporation
c) I work my best when there's a purpose I personally connect with.
My final year at university was the best and the worst. I took on a module I had zero knowledge in (who knew Behavioural Economics consists of 80% maths and 20% economics and 0% psychology), I took on modules I had zero interest in (it was compulsory so I had no choice) and cried my way through an existential crisis. It was also the best because I made so many great friends whom I travelled the UK with. We caught 4am trains, hiked for 5 hours in flats, celebrated birthdays with a view of the sun rising over London and tease each other as though we were siblings.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet new people and learn about different cultures from first hand experiences. I also hope to meet people who are similar to me, may it be in their interests, experiences in life or the jobs that they have (I have stumbled across some really cool people here, please reply me!).
Interests
Art, music, food, travel, sewing (this is my latest hobby), hiking/jumping into lakes and waterfalls. I also love live performances, especially the immersive art student type shows no one really gets.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music - Electro chilled house-ish stuff? I don't really know what category my music taste falls in to. But I definitely like jazz too. That I know!
Movies - Eat Pray Love. I can watch that again and again. I have also watched the whole series of Sex and the City (Season 1 to 6) THREE times, now onto my fourth. My favourite Carrie boyfriend is Aiden.
Books - I don't read very much. I prefer podcasts. My favourite shows are: SERIAL, Mystery Show, This American Life, Planet Money, Reply All and Star Up. Yup, I'm pretty much a Gimlet Media fan.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I conducted a speech and drama session in Malay (a language I'm rubbish at) for 15 and 17 year-olds in a rural village in Malaysia.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share some stories about my travels! Hopefully I'll have more funny ones when I meet you!
