About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To continue traveling and working my way around the world....snowboarding, scuba diving, mountain biking, and doing yoga every chance I get!

ABOUT ME

Once upon a time I did a university degree in Communications, and upon completion I decided to travel. That was now thirteen years ago and I haven't stopped! In that time I have become a full-blown snowboard addict and travel the world working each winter season in different snow resorts in different countries. However, I can't do without my summers and beach time either, and have also become a Dive Master, and I spend my summers guiding people underwater on some of the world's most beautiful reefs and caves. I love traveling - seeing new things, learning different cultures and languages, making lifelong friends along the way..... it's an unbeatable experience and I'm not going to give it up any time soon!

PHILOSOPHY

Live life for the moment. If you want to do something do it - don't spend too much time worrying about what other people think. Make the most of every opportunity you are given.
See, touch, feel, listen, smell, and taste everything put in front of you in life, whether good or bad, and be grateful and appreciate it all.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have now been couchsurfing, pretty irregularly, for the past 6 years. I've made a bed out of couches in Canada and the United States mostly, also in Colombia. When I am in a new place I love to check out couchsurfing events and meet the couchsurfing crew, have a good party or just a quiet meet-up. If I had a house, or any kind of fixed address for any decent amount of time I would love to have guests stay. However, at this stage of my life I have no fixed address, or even a fixed bed most of the time, so my participation at the moment is simply meeting new couch surfing friends in the new places I am traveling to, exchanging ideas and experiences, and getting a more 'local' perspective of the places I am visiting.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

What I have experienced from Couchsurfing so far has been so much fun. I've met some amazing people and by staying with, and hanging out with 'locals' I have had such a different experience as I would have had staying in a hostel or hotel with other travellers. I have arrived in new cities alone, and after a few days of attending CS events I have a whole new group of friends. Only in the past years I have been a part of this organised 'formal' couchsurfing. However, in my years of traveling I've stayed on countless couches and met so many cool, generous people. I guess joining this community is just putting a name to what I have been doing for years anyway. In the short periods I am at my home in Australia I have had my traveling friends stay - I love showing them my local area, taking them on walks, and letting them see a side of Sydney that most tourists would not.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spending time volunteer working at Inti Wara Yassi - a wild animal refuge in the jungle in Bolivia. Hard work and tough living conditions, but an AMAZING experience! Taking pumas and jaguars 'exercising' through the jungle on leads; having a loveable 'pet' howler monkey to 'sing' to you every morning; and having to run the gauntlet through the toucans cage to avoid being attacked by them, just to give then their daily pawpaw. AWESOME FUN.

Teach, Learn, Share

I LOVE sharing my traveling experiences and if people are traveling to a place I have already been, I love to help out by giving little tips and ideas of things that can be done there.
