One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There were couple amazing things in my life:
- Sleeping in the desert in Jordan & riding a donkey
- walking through the Tehran streets
- going to Japan alone almost without money
- plucking tea leaves in Malaysia
- bathing in a hot tub outside in Iceland

Teach, Learn, Share

FOR THOSE COMING TO PRAGUE there are couple things you should know
--------------------------------------------
1) TAXI - They are cheaters (like almost everywhere but here it's extremely bad): Use Uber or Taxify or Liftago apps. Don't use taxi on the street or at the airport.

2) PUBLIC TRANSPORT - we have (cheap I think) metro, bus, tram tickets. You have just one ticket for every kind of transport (metro, bus, tram, cable car) . There is one-day ticket for 110 CZK or three-days ticket for 310 CZK. (both for unlimited no. of rides). There is also single-ride ticket for 24 CZK (30min) or 32 CZK (90min).
There is now Wi-Fi in the tram so you don't need to sit at McDonald's.

3) GOING FROM THE AIRPORT (PRG)- Use bus 119 going to "Nádraží Veleslavín " metro station. It goes directly and "Nádraží Veleslavín" is the last stop. From this metro station (green line, A) you can go to the city center (10-15 min approx). ("Staroměstká station" for Charles Bridge, "Můstek" for astronomical clock and squares, etc. )

4) MONEY EXCHANGE - At the airport (everywhere) is a bad exchange rate. For better exchange rate you can order money online via Interchange exchange company and you can pick up your money at the airport or in the city centre. In the city centre exchange rate is better but there are couple scams in the city centre with changing money so take care. Usually when there is a sign "0% commission", exchange rate for buying euros is extremely bad. So take care and read and count everything properly. There is one good exchange company in Kaprovastreet (blue one ). We don't have euro and only some places as supermarkets will accept it. You can use your credit/debit card almost everywhere.

5) FOOD - "Goulash in bread " or "Trdelník" are NOT typical Czech dishes so if you really want to try something from local cuisine try "Svíčková" (cream sauce with beef and dumplings ) or just "Kachna " (duck, usually served with cabbage and dumplings ) or if you like something sweet go to "Cukrárna" for "větrník", "věneček" or "laskonka". We have also our fast food called Bageterie Boulevard which is something like Subway.
Try beer and if you are not alcohol lover, try Kofola - this is Czech version of Coca-cola but a bit different.

6) SIGHTSEEING - Every tourist place in Prague is accessible by public transport and walk. You don't need any tour or taxi.

7) SHOPPING- There are two outlet centres in Prague. One in "Štěrboholy" in Fashion Arena (with good prices but little bit out of the city centre ) and second one near to the airport (I've never been there ). If you are going there and you are not from any of EU countries - don't forget to ask for "Tax free" form. If you want something Czech, Bata is a Czech shoe brand.

**If you can't find a place to sleep here on CS, you can, especially during summertime, stay at Uni's dormitory rooms: https://www.suz.cvut.cz/files/cenik_hostely_pult.pdf ** It's cheap, some of them are in the city centre and some near to the airport.
