About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live every moment of my life, and to explore the world.

ABOUT ME

I like to think of myself as a fun-loving, open-minded person. I really crave new experiences and love meeting new people! I spent about 6.5 months between Dec '08 and August '09 on a backpacking trip (with a couple of stops back home)... I spent about 2 years saving for the trip, and it was worth every minute of work to save up! I spent a lot of time in Europe, the Middle East, Egypt, Thailand, and a little while on a road trip in the US and Canada. The whole thing was an INCREDIBLE experience! Now that I'm back in the "real world" I'm back working for my internet retail chocolate company (I'm one of the owners and my main role in the company is the online marketing side of things). I also do a bit of consulting about online marketing on the side.

I keep pretty busy in my spare time (love enjoying everything Atlanta has to offer and have a great group of friends here), but would love to have couchsurfers join me in the fun if I'm in town!

PHILOSOPHY

Anything is possible, the "impossible" just takes longer. I also really believe that everyone has a story and something to teach us if we pay attention, ask and listen.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have never actually stayed with anybody through the website, but I did meet an awesome girl to travel with in Croatia for several days. I also loved meeting up with locals for coffee or to show me around while I was on the road, and went to a couple of CS meetups in other countries.

I'd love to get more involved in CS and meet other Atlantan's who are into traveling and interested in the world, and to catch up with other travellers who are in town and want someone to show them around (or just to hang out with). I'm really looking forward to going to some of the local events and meeting other local Couchsurfers! I've also got a very comfy couch that I'd love to host you on if the stars align for our schedules! (It's big enough to sleep two people if you want).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I think this site is AMAZING! I've met some really really great people through Couchsurfing... they really help make experiences more memorable. One of my favorite nights of my entire long trip was a CS meetup in Split, Croatia! (How many places do you find a group that consists of American's, Kiwi's, Croatians, and Latvians just hanging out?!).

Interests

Travel (obviously), Scuba Diving, live music and local events, relaxing in coffee shops, photography, spending time with people who are important to me... I also love working out (was a competitive swimmer for a lot of years) and have gotten into running in the last year (I've run 3 half marathons so far and am currently training for more!). During the 2008 election I did a bit of volunteering for Obama. It was a blast, and for the first time it got me involved in politics which I still have a love/hate relationship with. (Yes, I'm a liberal that lives in the deep south. We do exist. Actually, I'm pretty moderate... which just comes off as crazy liberal here. haha).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just one? Um, experiencing a religious Shabbat in Tzfat Israel. It changed something in me and opened my eyes up to a beauty in the world that I had never been able to see before that. I can't explain why, but it was one of the most incredible things I've ever experienced. I'm still not a religious person, but that 24 hours was a very moving experience for me.
