About Me
CURRENT MISSION
music and adventure!
ABOUT ME
I enjoy hiking through the mountains of New Mexico and exploring the surrounding areas. I love to read in my comfy papazon chair on the porch in the fading or rising sun. Music feeds my soul. I seek adventure, also let it find me (and it usually does). My favorite quote right now comes from an old song my grandpa used to sing while playing his accordion, "Enjoy yourself, its later than you think"
PHILOSOPHY
Surrender to what is and life will unfold beautifully around you, resist and you will struggle forever
“Life is a combination of beauty and calamity”
“More nonsense gets dropped in the spirituality box than anything else out there.”
“Everything is spirit. Or everything is god in drag, disguised but always there”
“The ultimate freedom is to know that life is not about you”
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I participate in CS currently by hosting. I have never yet surfed a couch but am looking forward to doing so during my upcoming trip to India.
***If you would like to surf my couch, please do so via the "couchsurf with..." at the top of my profile, and not by sending me a message. This way I can keep track of who is coming, when, and how long they are staying. Thank you very much!!
Also, please don't contact me for a place to stay today or tomorrow, I appreciate immensely people that plan ahead, even if by only a couple of days! It shows you put some thought into things! And this project as a whole seems to me to be a lot about thoughtfulness.
That being said, you break down in the fe and are desperate, I am human! You can check in with me!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I joined CS summer of 2010... before that my housemate was a member and we hosted a few people that way. My first couch surfer became my room mate... I'm told this doesn't usually happen =)
I have lots of friends who participate in couch surfing and have had a great time, I am happy to have joined this innovative network of forward thinking people working together to create a world with options for travel that don't involve feeding the man (government, corporations, large scale "hospitality" organizations, etc)
RECENTLY:
I've been having some bad experiences with people asking to surf my couch, I say yes, they say great I'll be there this day, then they don't show up, they don't call, don't write, etc. This is so disrespectful! Please don't do this! I am making time and space for you, please give a call and let me know your plans have changed, or thanks anyway! For goodness sakes I would most certainly do this if someone was putting out such a kind hand as to let me into their home.
Interests
In my free time I love to hike with my sweet yellow lab, Bear. I also love camping, traveling (go figure), and otherwise adventuring. I'm almost always up for trying something new, whether it be river rafting, rock climbing, snowshoeing, heli dropping on a snowboard, etc.
I also enjoy calmer activities such as reading, warm bathes, and meditation.
I am an avid music maker. I sing and play percussion in a Balkan and Middle Eastern band here in Santa Fe, Rumelia (facebook.com/rumeli.music)
I also work as an early childhood music educator, which keeps me young at heart.

Music, Movies, and Books
"Shantaram" was a very long book, but very worth it.
I also enjoyed "the Hummingbird's Daughter" and "Eat Pray Love" (though the movie doesn't do the book justice at all I must say). I would also recommend "The sound of Language" by Amulya Malladi and "Yoga Hotel" by Maura Moynihan. Right now I'm reading "The Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, which is excellent. And "The art of Racing in the Rain" is beautiful
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I saw a Grizzly Bear in Glacier National Park (Montana) from a bicycle 20 ft away. I watched a lightning storm over a lake at a different camp ground in the same park. I climbed through the Atlas mountains in Morocco and got sunburned on the beach in Spain (ok, not so amazing, but I can't help it). In the vein of truly amazing, the heli drop in SIlverton was certainly breathtaking (literally and figuratively) and cliff jumping into Lake Abiquiu is always a thrill.
