About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Exploring the world around me, and the world inside my mind.

ABOUT ME

I am a cultural scientist, so I enjoy experiencing different cultures and learning about the many different ways of engaging with the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like meeting people who come from different backgrounds.

When I stayed in Belgium my housemates and I hosted lots of people from all over the world, and I found the experiences fascinating, rewarding and fun. I hope to have more of these types of experiences.

Also as a student from South Africa, where our exchange rate is not good, and I don't have much money to begin with, staying in hostels can be too expensive.

Interests

Football, history, politics, philosophy, cultures, music and pretty much everything and anything else. I enjoy learning about the world

  • politics
  • board games
  • watching sports
  • music
  • soccer
  • history
  • science
  • sport

Music, Movies, and Books

The Beatles, Sylvan Esso, The Wailers, Daft Punk, Bombay Bicycle Club, Franz Ferdinand and many, many more.

Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Pulp Fiction, Midnight in Paris, The Grand Budapest Hotel (and other Wes Anderson movies),

The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, The Harry Potter series, A Song of Ice and Fire series, Discworld as well as non-fiction, history books, and biographies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Amazing is a subjective term, but living in Belgium, meeting people from all over the world, and doing the same back in SA, has been amazing. The ways in which I can have more in common with a Venezuelan or a Serbian than a fellow South African, still boggles my mind.

Teach, Learn, Share

How to swear in Afrikaans, which is a lot of fun.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories, ideas, experiences, some basic cooking

Countries I’ve Visited

England, France, Germany, Italy, Lesotho, Mozambique, Portugal, Spain, Swaziland, Switzerland, Zimbabwe

Countries I’ve Lived In

Belgium, South Africa
