Overview
About Me
I'm an architect living in Johannesburg, South Africa. For fun and sustenance I design buildings, work on sculptures, and do woodwork in the form of furniture.
I've worked and travelled in a few countries globally, but am always excited to see new places. I'm sometimes serious and intense, sometimes a joker, but I hope that I always act with compassion.
I hope to learn through travel how to appreciate that others have unique values and to attempt to understand them in light of that, and to enjoy myself enough that I don't look back and wonder what I spent my time and money on all those years?
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've been couchsurfing since 2007, and have had many fantastic experiences with wonderful hosts and surfers, and I would love to have more - to experience things which challenge, enlighten, and educate me.
Interests
I am fortunate to say that what I do for a living is also something that I love - I am fascinated by architecture and design, from the design of cities right down to the smallest piece of furniture or household object.
My other interests and passions include photography, musical instruments and the sounds they make, history, economics, trees, food and diet, and science fiction.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have a soft spot for science fiction, whether it's pulpy or serious, so my list includes Robert Heinlein, Isaac Asimov, Philip K Dick, as well as authors like Terry Pratchett, Kahlil Gibran and Jonathan Franzen.
Children of Men, Lost in Translation, and the Mad Max series are some of my favourite films.
My musical taste is eclectic, from John Coltrane, through Kishi Bashi to Arvo Pärt.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sailing off the pitch black coast of Mozambique at midnight and watching the waves glowing blue green from the fluorescent plankton.
Teach, Learn, Share
Let's fix some furniture, build a treehouse, take some photos, or play some music?
What I Can Share with Hosts
If you were always considering adding a room or a loft to your home, let's chat. Same goes for a treehouse, hobbit hole, or living pod.
