About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoy life, enjoy people, develope, explore, and stay grateful.

ABOUT ME

I love music. I can't walk by a musicstore without checkin every cd there is of the genres I like. To name a few favorites: Radiohead, D'Angelo, Doors, Marvin Gaye, Miles Davis, A Tribe Called Quest, Tom Waits, Bon Iver, Charles Mingus etc. Quite diverse as you can see.
I'm also a sportsguy. I'm addicted to football or soccer, whatever you name it. I support Ajax and Man United abroad. I'm not the most talented, but quite dedicated.
I've got two great older brothers, two official sister-in-law plus the best parents you can have. And that's not all (I am a very lucky guy), I got a group of friends at home which are amongst the most loyal and dedicated ones there are. So if you ever end up on my couch, you're bout to meet some of them.
Well, to round up: I like maths, physics and science. I am religous, baptist. I joined a Christian fraternaty in Delft. I like beer, especially Belgium (Jupiler, Palm) but also (how could I not?) Grolsch! I like quality movies such by Tarantino, The Coen Brother, Charlie Kaufman, David Fincher and such.
I like eating. Pretty much every type of food there is, except for pineapple. Love the Dutch kitchen.

PHILOSOPHY

I see. Uhm, I have tons and none at the same time. I guess I think life is about exploring, gaining experiences, enjoying people, your friends, family, and trying to make the most of it for yourself and everybody else. Flourish without getting in the way of others. Try to involve others in your succes and happiness as well. And most important: Stay grateful to God and (try to) do everything to his glory.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, I got a place in Delft. Which is an almost ancient city. Old churches, a lot of water and it's got a great vibe as well. It's full of tourists, but moreover: students. If you're about to visit Delft for about 1 or 2 days contact me. But not too long, cause my room ain't that big and we might get on eachothers nerves. I do this mainly to return the favor, but also because I like meeting different people and I like showing them around. I'll show you the Dutch studentlife and whatever it is you want to see. I might be pretty busy, but that doesn't have to be a big issue.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

First one: I met Simon who was about to couchsurf in Wellington at Alaister's place. We (me and a friend) had a van and Simon rode along with us. He took us to Alaister who showed us a great night with some homebrewed alcohol and a couple of his friends. The next day we had to catch the ferry to the soutern island.
Second one: a german girl spend a night in my room. I didn't get to know her very well since she arrived late and I had a lot of stuff to do the next day.

Interests

Right, I guess I ran my mouth too quickly.
I'll just tell you guys again:
- Music
- Soccer/football
- Movies: see above.
- Books: I read slow, with makes me enjoy books even longer. Favourites: Dostojewski and Kundera.

Music, Movies, and Books

OK. I guess I should check what's coming before I start writing. See above.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Did the 134 m bungeejump in Queentown: Awesome.
Did the 12000 feet skydive in Taupo: Not as awesome as the bungee but still smoking.
Haven't had a shower for a period of 5 days: not as bad as it sounds.
Tried to jump over the fences at a Daft Punk concert in Melbourne: Fun. Got caught all three times though, but if you stay respectful towards the guards they won't hurt you.

I'll come up with more hopefully in the near future.

Teach, Learn, Share

Read the Bible ;). Gratefulness is the best condition you can be in. The commandments have been given to help us live a better life, not to please God (even though, He's very pleased to see us happy).
