Overview
About Me
Enthousiastic law student who loves to travel and work around the world!
I am 24 years old and currently backpacking through Southeast Asia, New Zealand and South America in eight months. I am a relaxed guy, who can easily enjoy both the silence of nature in some extremely remote places, as well as joining a crazy party in one of world's most crowded cities - I want to experience it all!
Former officer cadet in the Royal Netherlands Navy.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Even though I have travelled a lot, I am a complete newbie in travelling solo. This trip around the world will give me the opportunity to meet all kinds of new people and make new friends. I am on Couchsurfing for that exact reason - I'd love to meet as many new people as possible, and I think that it is the best way to really get to know all these new places.
A couch to sleep on would be great; I owe you a lifetime if you can also show me (a part of ) your country!
Interests
I love listening and making music, I am a vivid sailor (been a sailing instructor for eight years now) and the same goes for scuba diving (worked and lived as a scuba diving instructor for one year on the beautiful island of Curacao in '09-'10).
I am a great fan of rowing, am a certified skydiver and I used to play the piano. Nevertheless, I dedicate my current trip to getting new experiences and learning new things!

Music, Movies, and Books
My taste in music is quite diverse: Whereas I am a great fan of many oldies (classic jazz, rock, etc.), I am also into techno music and - parties. On the other hand, I have a weakness for some dutch pop-artists and my guilty pleasure may even be a single popular hitsong from time to time..
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Celebrated New Years' Eve on the riverbed of the Sudanese Nile? Skydiving with friends in the French mountains? Did the Trans-Mongolian express when I was in High school? I wouldn't know.
I would love to add my experiences of upcoming eight months (with my hosts?) to this list.
Teach, Learn, Share
My trip is dedicated to learn as much as possible about the countries I visit, so I am open to basically everything - whether it is a crazy dish to cook, a cultural habbit to get used to , or experience something that is typically yours. Thereby, I am really eager to learn some Spanish before I get to South America (and extend this knowledge while I am at it, right?!).
A scuba diving or sailing course might be a little bit too much of a hassle on the short run, but I could teach you some dutch, a simple card game, or something else you'd like though?
